This is true, and if I am top talent and don't want to go to UConn, Tenn, or Stanford, ISU would be on my list.
Great coach? Check
Produces winners? Check
Great school? Check
Nice facility? Check
Great fans? Check
Seriously, the only knock I will say is we aren't quite "elite" yet, meaning we haven't competed for a national championship, but I think a final 4 isn't too crazy to think of in the coming years with Bill and if we can get the right recruits, a NC isn't too wild, though I will say unlikely...
Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -

You are probably right about Rutgers here as they badly need a big. They lost at midterm their 6-4 frosh post, Christine Huber, who transferred. And their current center, Junaid, is a senior. No one else currently on their roster over 6-2.

Re: WBB Recruiting continued...
Letting the top talent in mens' basketball (like HB) leave the state is one thing, and understandable, with the state of the mens' programs.
Letting Stokes and Greenfield get out is another thing altogether. Greenfield signing somewhere else would be devasting, and I doubt it will happen. Stokes is big for Iowa and ISU too.

Stokes' father, while an Hawk alum, is on record advising her to go out of state.

Re: WBB Recruiting continued...
Could the California commit be Bonnie Samuelson? She plays for Edison High School and they played at Fountain Valley on their senior night Feb. 9th. She also plays on the same Cal Swish team as Kelsey Harris. Here is the link to the Fountain Valley website saying Feb. 9th was senior night. FVHS ECS

Hey KMOORE that's some awesome detective work! Sounds like the one BF was visiting. Let's hope the rumor true -- sure would be nice to steal at Top 60 player out of Stanford's backyard (for a change).

Re: WBB Recruiting continued...
Feb 9th was probably senior night for a lot of teams, so this is a bit circumstantial. It'd be really nice if true, though. :)

Re: WBB Recruiting continued...
I dug around the UCONN fan message boards and found a discussion thread about Bonnie Samuelson and Kiah Stokes. Samuelson is the best shooting guard in California class of 2011 and already has scholarship offers from UConn, Duke, Stanford, and Maryland. She played on the same Cal Swish team as Iowa State commit Kelsey Harris. If it is indeed true that Fennelly got her to commit that would be HUGE.
This same site also said that Kiah Stokes made an official visit to UConn and Shea Ralph visited her in Iowa, but Auriemma decided NOT to offer her a scholarship. Scout.com: Class of 2011 recruiting... -

Coach Fennelly has said that they have limited resources and they can't spend those resources chasing recruits that they likely will not get. I can't believe that he is going to fly to California to make an offer to a mediocre player. So it made sense to me to start with players with a connection to Kelsey Harris. If you are spending the time and resources to go that far you better be fairly confident that you are going to get a good player. All that being said this is 100% circumstantial. However if you look at the top uncommitted players for 2011 in California that played in a game on senior night Feb. 9th in Orange County it's pretty hard to come to any other conclusion.

Pat was polite but her players were rude and bitchy and dismissive when i wished them good luck in the game. It was the last time I wished them luck and I have vigoriously cheered against them every time I have seen them play but it didn't work until last year! I really wanted to meet and beat them last year but they got beat first.
I got to see that outdoor fiasco of a game , courtesy of tickets from Pat Summit herself. I say a fiasco, cause the court was slick from the frost and the salamander heaters behind the benches were always on. the sliding roof was open to promote the FIRST OUTDOOR WOMEN'S BB GAME.
The players played like ISU girls could have beaten either team in a heartbeat, but actually all players were worried about slipping on some patches of frost as the court was laid down on the baseball field. We thought, since we got players family tickets, that we would be right behind the team bench. Wrong, court was laid out down first base line, out tickets were down third base line. So cold, we left half way thu the second half.

Sharonda Butts, Des Moines, IA
Markisha Wright, Des Moines, IA Just checked in on this thread for the first time and I have to agree with others, mred has got this down to a science! Impressive job!
I'm anxious to hear what happens with Berna since she's down here in my backyard. It will be interesting to see if she can be swayed to head up north. I also want to add that I'm a huge Fennelly fan. Side note, wasn't Fennelly a candidate for the ISU job when Becker was hired?
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
