Either way has problems - remember that in the old format, just because a school was highly-seeded and ranked didn't mean they had a large fan following. Attendance sucked at several of those sites as well.

John Paul Jones Arena, University of Virginia
Cintas Center, Xavier University
Comcast Center (arena), University of Maryland
St. John Arena, Ohio State University
Cameron Indoor Stadium, Duke University
Thompson-Boling Arena, University of Tennessee
Jon M. Huntsman Center, University of Utah
McCarthey Athletic Center, Gonzaga University
CenturyTel Center, Louisiana Tech University
Maples Pavilion, Stanford University
Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, University of Connecticut
Bryce Jordan Center, Pennsylvania State University
Ferrell Center, Baylor University
INTRUST Bank Arena, Wichita State University
The sites for 2012 and beyond haven't been set yet.

Re: Bracketology update - ISU 8 seed
Are host schools required to play at home? A dream scenario (maybe this is conceivable, but it is certainly absolute best-case if it is) would be that we end up 3rd in the Big XII with only 2 more regular season losses and then runner up or champs in the big12 tourney with a final ranking in the top 15 and RPI above 15th. Is the selection committee then forced into giving us a 1 or 8 seed to keep us in Ames, or can they send us to Minneapolis with a 2 seed?

"Are host schools required to play at home?" Yes, if we are in the tournament, we will dance at home regardless of our seeding.

Re: Bracketology update - ISU 8 seed
I can see with the way ISU draws that if they can they would really like to get them into a seed that would allow them to bring 3 other teams that aren't really close and that wouldn't help attendence greatly at other arenas. Since ISU women draw a high number of fans the NCAA would love to be able to put them in a pod and not have to match them up with a highly ranked team that travles really well.
