Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
Kelsey sounds like our next Heather Ezell. That would be cool if Mansfield can step in for Aus, and along with Harris provide deja vu of 2007-09 in the back court.

Mansfield's Midland team won the first round of the national tournament this morning. They play in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 6pm (article below says "tonight", but I'm guessing it was written to be published tomorrow).
Mansfield was only 2-10 from the field, but she did have 4 assists.

Harris' Brea Olinda team won its first two games and will play in the Div II Southern Regional Final (Div II overall semifinal) vs Mater Dei Saturday at 2pm pacific. They won their first two games by 20+ point margins.
68-41 in the first game, Harris leading the way with 14 (4 threes): Brea Olinda rolls past Diamond Ranch | quarter, brea, olinda - Sports - OC Varsity
68-46 in the second game, Harris leading the way with 21 (4 threes again): Depleted Brea Olinda still too much for Yosemite | ladycats, game, brea - Sports - OC Varsity
Maxpreps ranks Brea Olinda and Mater Dei #2 and #3 in the nation, while USA Today has them at #3 and #4. Brea beat them last year in the regional final and again earlier this season. Mater Dei has 3 of the 12 players on last summer's US national U16 squad. Brea Olinda also has one, but she (Justine Hartman) has missed this entire season with an injury. just a bump for those who want to watch the NEW aus that will be here next year.. can watch the game at 6pm here NJCAA TV - Live and Recorded Shows Featuring Junior College Athletics Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

I just tuned in. Midland down 35-28 at half.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
Midland lost. Even though she had an off night, Mansfield did impress me. She made some nice passes (some of which didn't work only because her teammates weren't looking) and has a nice shot. She can definitely play both 1 and 2.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
Thanks for the link. I watched part of the second half too. She looks similar to Aus in that she has a very high bounce on her dribble and a quick release 3-point shot. She also just seems confident on the floor with the ball, and not playing with people who are at her level. She's 3-4 inches shorter than Aus so won't be as difficult to match-up for opposing point guards. But I hope one Aus can pick up right where the other Aus left off!

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
Midland lost again this afternoon (they lost yesterday to Labette, a Kansas juco); I did not see the game, but I can tell you that Mansfield was Midland's leading scorer with 19; no one else on their team was in double figures.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
Here's a short write-up on the Mater Dei/Brea Olinda game. No stats yet. In other write-ups, it seems like Brea Olinda led most of the game and pretty much lost it in the 4th quarter. Brea Olinda was also without their starting point guard, Alexis Perry, the whole game. All it said was she had recently suffered a torn knee ligament. Kelsey had 6 points at halftime. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/vars...vision-ii.html

Here's a little blog write-up of the game as it was in progress. Pretty detailed. http://ocvarsity.freedomblogging.com...version/96609/
