WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
2011
Hallie Christofferson (Exira, IA)
As of Jan 14th, Exira was 11-0 and #4 in 1A. Through 11 games, she is averaging 26.1 points, 14.6 reb, 5.4 steals, and 4.6 blocks. Additionally, her a/to ratio is almost 1, which is good for a post player.
Kelsey Harris (Brea Olinda HS, CA)
On Monday, Brea Olinda, the #4 team in the nation, knocked off the nation's #1 team Mater Dei 47-43. Harris averages 13.2 ppg (0.1 behind the team lead) on a team with very balanced scoring. This is the second straight season Brea has upset Mater Dei: http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...ml#post1244412 (new commit 2010)
Lauren Mansfield (Midland CC, TX)
Midland is 18-3 and #6 in the NJCAA Div I WBB poll. Mansfield is leading the team in scoring at 12.5 ppg. She has 4.5 rpg, 3.6 apg, and 1.7 spg.
2012
Fallon Ellis (Westbury Christian HS, TX)
Westbury is the #2 team in Texas in the large-school division of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. Westbury is 18-7 while playing an aggressively difficult schedule. Ellis leads the team with 16.2 ppg and 8.0 rpg. Her teammate Amber Orrange (G) is #49 in the 2011 Hoopgurlz Top 60.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
This could be a very special class that is coming in
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

Christofferson had 32 and 20 in the state quarterfinal and had 33 and 13 in the state semifinal. She's only 5 points from breaking the 1A 5-player single-season state tournament scoring record. The final will be televised in Iowa, so check your local listings. Originally Posted by mred Kelsey Harris (Brea Olinda HS, CA)

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
thanks for the updates MRed. I read somewhere that Mansfield isn't that much of a shooter(3). Have you seen statistics on her 3pters? Just don't see our offense running well without a PG that can't shoot the 3.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
I have tried to get more info on Lauren, but can only come up with a few mentions on the web; this school (Midland) must be out in the boonies because there is not a lot of print media coverage. She does not shoot a lot, according to the one stat sheet I saw, and does not take many treys, but unless you know who else is on the team, their stats, and what kind of sets the coaches run, it is difficult to fill in the blanks and draw conclusions. Apparently, whatever they run works, because they have only lost 3 or 4 games. FYI, there are at least two more foreign kids on the team besides Lauren, one other Aus and a gal from London, UK. These two are bigs. ps. some entries say Lauren is 5-6, others say she is 5-7, if that is important to you.

Good point -- just look at what OSU did to us when we had non-shooters running the point. They sag off and clog up everything else. BF said postgame that not having a shooting PG "makes it hard to make the next pass" in his offense. From the sounds of it, Kelsey Harris from Brea CA is quite a big deal.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
I don't doubt Harris is a very fine shooter and hits the three well, but in reading the reports on her, I did not get a sense that she is particularly quick, and in fact one note said she relied on other talents besides quickness to guard.

Strongly agree with that, Redbird; her stats are very impressive, and that she obviously wanted to come here is another plus. I have only seen still pics of her, but she looks strong in those pics. I only wish I knew more about the private school leagues in Texas; it would help to assess her record.

Re: WBB signees/commits -- how are their seasons going?
As we all know, Exira won the 1A championship and Christofferson was named the tournament team captain.
Midland college won yesterday 69-59. They play again today. I have no details on the win.
