Danielle McCray blew out her ACL and is out for the rest of the season. Huge blow.

And as as senior, that's the end of her college career. She was a really good player who would have hit 2000 points had this not happened.

Re: KU's McCray out for season

This places an exclamation point on the KU disappointing season. They were expected to vie for the conference title, or at least be near the top and get a post season bid. Now, at 3-4, 13-7 with McCray, without her they'll have to dig deep to salvage respectability. Though, a whole team can be distracted by a star and play better when they have to rely on themselves.

Too bad. She was just 66 points from 2,000 for her career. With the ACL this late in the season, could cost her a chance in the WNBA draft this year. Nebraska and Kelsey Griffin are having the season KU and McCray were looking for this year.

that really sucks.. she is an awesome player
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I saw it mentioned elsewhere that she wouldn't take up a roster spot this season in the WNBA because she'd be on IR (or whatever they call it). There's bound to be a team out there more than willing to draft her and just hold on to her for a year.

This ACL crap is unbelievable. I think it has hit every team in the Big 12 but some more than others.

As a program trying to retain its prior glory, this really takes them a step back. If they played ball, there was a decent chance they could make it to the big dance. From a scheduling standpoint, we are lucky we don't play them for a few weeks, I have a feeling their first few games could be quite emotional as they try to dave the season and get to the NCAA's. We know all to well about ACL injuries.

Yeah, in the KC Star this morning, it said that it would have been possible to make it back yet this season, but Bonnie Sue helped her come to the decision to not try to come back, because she has a legit chance at the WNBA. She is basically going to rehab and get ready for her shot.
