Got the win, but it wasn't pretty. Great crowd!!! We seem to be in a bit of a slump from 3 point range lately. Only 1 tonight and I believe we only got 1 a week ago against Missouri. Hope the girls get through that soon. Pop is really playing well lately. I really like her game. We are playing some very good D right now too. Looking forward to the KC trip.

Re: ***Iowa State vs Kansas State Game Thread***
The dangerous thing was, would we finally hit a three (after the first one)? We did hit one, does anybody have the count on consecutive games with a 3? Who was the team we were behind, and have they kept pace?

Re: ***Iowa State vs Kansas State Game Thread***
I made it to the game for only the second time this year, and I couldn't help but notice Poppens off the ball. That women is the second coming of Ed Horton.
Hope is not a method. Soon is not a time. -

Re: ***Iowa State vs Kansas State Game Thread***
Got home late last night from the game.
I didn't see the first Aus OF, but the second one, technically, was correct: she pushed off with her off-forearm. Having said that, the refs were not consistant in calling that minor of a pushoff all night.
Aus has come such a long way in being a PG, it is just incredible.
And, this just in: Pop is going to be a good one. I think the game has slowed down for her so much this year, and she has slowed herself down (playing under control) versus early in the season.

Re: ***Iowa State vs Kansas State Game Thread***
If Prins and Zimmerman can become as physical and strong and smart as Pop, LOOK OUT world!
On the topic of our 3-point shooting "slump," we had 16 against Baylor in that rout but have cooled off since. To give the girls credit I don't think it's a slump I just think it's the fact that teams make it their #1 priority to shut down the 3 and these North teams know/anticipate our plays by memory. BF said once that the Kansas schools like to make it their goal to break our consecutive game streak. Similar thing happened at the end of last season, but then when we got to the NCAAs we played teams who weren't familiar with our plays and burned them for dozens of 3s. So I'm not worried.
Last night was ugly but a "W" nonetheless.
OU keeps winning too so we really need to take down OSU on Wednesday. Looking forward to Aus vs. Riley.

Re: ***Iowa State vs Kansas State Game Thread***
This team will likely have serious guard issues next year, but I'm enjoying this year and hoping BF can pull a rabbit out of the hat for next year.

ISU has 2 more regular-season games (479), plus KC (481-482?) and a couple in Ames (483-484).
The Cyclones could draw even by the end of the year.

Yeah, I'm so glad that our post positions will be experienced. Aus is the best in the country and she will be sorely missed. Denae will also be missed for her energy and rebounding. Hopefully Jessica and Chassidy can step up next year to fill these roles.

Whitney has shown some ability as a point guard but idk if they want to take her off the 2 position next year...important thing is we have Aus this year and 2 home games in the tourney...Pop can shoot free throws now which I think gave her huge confidence in all aspects of her game and it showed
