Just another reason to be thankful that BF does such a good job recruiting players with good character alongside their basketball skills. What would it look like to all the Lil' Clone Club kids to see Lacey punch someone? At least it was an away game so the younger girls who look up to her didn't see it.

My God, what a crap thing to throw into this thread. I think the speculation with sportsmanship and what consequences will come of this is a great thread topic, and it has NOTHING to do with the rest. Give the mens team bashing a break, it isnt appropriate here... in my opinion.

Kim Mulkey is one of the classiest coaches in the country and I have confidence she will handle this situation with grace, dignity, and respect for women's college basketball. You could tell from listening to her post-game interview that she was sincerely surprised, embarrassed, and horrified by what transpired. I predict she will voluntarily suspend Griner for the rest of the year, and if she doesn't, I think the NCAA will step in and do something.

It's the end of the most rugged Big 12 season in history, and these teams are physically and mentally tired -- not to mention probably tired of seeing each other with the home/away series. I just hope the Big 12 hasn't beat itself up so badly that they can still perform well in the NCAAs and get 5 teams into the Sweet 16.

Not to absolve Griner, but from my POV, WBB has been getting more physical every year. A combination of coaches preaching aggressive defense, with refs going into "let 'em play" mode for extended stretches in games. I'm guessing a lot of people at the game saw this coming before the refs did, unfortunately.

Furthermore, I feel bad for Kim Mulkey and Baylor that the video clip of this incident will probably be replayed every time they play a televised game for the next four years. Griner was already the most hyped player in the country, and received tons of national (ESPN) media attention for her dunks and blocks. She was probably going to be national freshman player of the year and national defensive player of the year. Now for the next four years, whenever they play on ESPN, this clip will be shown, or they commentators will at least discuss it. Like I said, not to absolve anyone, but I feel really bad for Kim Mulkey in this situation because it's not just going to fade away into the background anytime soon.

Conference Rules are pretty generic on the penalty. Depending on her suspension, this could have a big impact on their NCAA seeding.

12.4.5

Penalties. The penalties that may be imposed by the Commissioner for violation
of these standards may include, but are not limited to, private and public reprimand,

institutional fines, and suspension from practice and/or competition.

These girls need to be tought what to do when a fight breaks out on the court/field. You NEVER grab your own teammate. Leaves them vulnerable to another shot.
