What's your initial thoughts on this game mred?
The only thing that scares me is if Lacey is rusty, but honestly we ought to be able to win this game without her offense.
I think we'd cream them even without Lacey, but I hope she can be back at 100% to work the kinks out.
I think this is an easy win, but BF will somehow find a way to make Lehigh sound/look like UConn to the media and his players.
Average home attendance: 834
Pretty balanced scoring. They put up quite a few threes but make a fairly low percentage of them (31%). Their PG Erica Prosser is their leading scorer but commits a lot of turnovers.
They have nearly twice as many steals as we do. I'm guessing they feed off transition offense, which we usually do a good job of slowing down.
Tallest players are 6'3" and 6'2". They play a combined 31 minutes per game, so there will likely be times when their tallest player is 6'1".
I see a reference to them having a "swarming defense".
Even if Lacy is a little rusty and doesn't play the entire game we should be okay. I think the last three games without has tought the team a few lessons. BF will have them ready and firing on all cylinders against Lehigh. I doubt that they have faced a Big 12 defense and Prins and Poppins should control the boards. Go Clones....
I recall a game against St. Francis, which I think may be a similar situation. They had one player who could have played in the Big12. We did not put that team away until late. A winning team is a winning team - if taken lightly or if they shoot above their average we could stumble. The frosh mustn't be distracted by Va or UConn - first things first.
The Register has a table of our home tournament games. It reports that we went on to beat St. Francis 92-63, but, I recall that they put up a fight. I didn't see the four seed match up against Kent St. which we won 79-76 - must have been a thriller before the one point loss to Rutgers.
Here is a link to Lehigh's tourney selection video where their key players and coach is interviewed:
Women's Basketball Release - Lehigh
Got to say, an interesting contrast between comments by coaches,
BF - gonna get tape and start breaking it down tonight-all nighter.
Lehigh coach - gonna make some calls and break down tape over the next couple days, maybe Thursday we start looking at ISU.
Our players/coach sounded a lot less enthusiastic about selection day, but I guess that is expected.
The hard part is the team gets a week to prep for 13, but one day for Virginia. Wish that was the other way around, but that's not how the cookie crumbles.
Are there still tickets available for either or both session? Will there be day of? I really didn't think I'd be able to make it work Sunday, but the closer it gets the more I get the urge to try and jam it into my schedule.
I'm sure there are tickets available. Bought some last week in the 5th and 6th rows of the balconey on the side of the court.
I bought some last night in section 101 row 16
