Re: Development of post players & hope for future
I love the post players. The only complaint I would have is that Prins needs to get more aggressive, and learn to use her height advantage.......especially on defense. She needs to learn to be able to leave the floor, keep her body under control, and block shots. The girl does not jump! I am guessing that comes from usually being the tallest girl on the floor in high school, and she didn't have to jump. Imagine how good she will be defensively, as a rebounder, and as an inside scorer once she learns how to do all of those things while jumping.
All the discussion about the point guard....Aus will be hard to replace, but I have a lot of faith in BF either developing one of the current players or bringing someone in who can fill the position. Aus played a lot starting her 2nd year, but her freshman year she only averaged like 7 points a game.
I think next year's team is going to miss Denae more than many realize. Her defense and tough attitude out there is not easily found either.
I'm sure BF will find some more good recruits, and the post players will continue to develop. Hope everybody not graduating on this year's team sticks around for next year.

Why would not a great PG want to come to Cloneville with their front court and past success? This should help recruiting.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I'm not sure the PG next year will be someone currently on the roster. I had high hopes for Cole, but she also require lots of work and confidence. Regardless of her offensive skills, WW will always be a defensive match up problem.
Agree on Danae, we miss Niz this year.

Re: Development of post players & hope for future
I agree that Anna needs work on her inside game; she does not catch the ball well in traffic, holds it too low, and sometimes fails to gather herself before shooting. But these are problems that can be solved over the summer. You don't want her to be just an outside shooter, but you have to admire her form on those shots and on her foul shots. She will be a terror once her inside game improves, and it will. The other frosh not mentioned much on this thread is Schroll; she is perhaps the fastest on the team from basket to basket, can jump, and can penetrate; her driving ability was shown in the first half last night. She hit a three last night, and I think, like Anna, she will get a lot better before next season. She even has a nice pull up jump shot, but I have not seen her use it much recently. She is almost as tough as Pops on the boards.
Bottom line: it looks like we will have ten players next year who will all see playing time and contribute; good thing because ten players are all we will have, evidently.

Re: Development of post players & hope for future
I think all the returnees need to improve over the summer. Prins needs to get stronger and meaner in the lower blocks. She got stuffed by a 6 footer several times inside last night. That should never happen when you are her size. Poppens has to develop and outside shot. Defensively when she isn't in the post they fall off of her. Bolte needs consistency. When she is on, she is as good as anyone in the Big 12. We need a full 40 minute offensive and defensive game out of her each and every night. She has to want the ball in her hands every trip down the court. I thought Jess had the best game of her season against Green Bay. She was intense and we saw her drive to the basket and score from outside all of it with better control than she has displayed all season. I think the new point will probably be the juco newcomer. WW is too much of a liability with the lack of strength and size.
We will be fine next year. Will we go back to the Sweet 16? I wouldn't put money on it but I also would never count a BF team out. Win or lose to UConn, it has been another great season for the Clones.

I think she's been much better at that this season. The GB game was atypical for her from a shooting standpoint, but she still found her shots and took good ones (imho).

Re: Development of post players & hope for future
I think we'll definitely go to the Sweet 16 again next year and maybe more. Amazingly, THIS year WAS the rebuilding year and now the next three will be to the moon. That's why ESPN.com is saying ISU has absolutely a no-lose situation against UConn, because nobody even expected them to make the Tourney.

Re: Development of post players & hope for future
I think the Sweet 16 hopes for next year may be a tad optimistic. This will be a rebuilding year again. We will have only 10 scholarship players on the roster. We will have to replace both gaurds and our key leader. I think we will be competitive in the Big 12 and probably get into the big dance again. Making the Sweet 16 again, may be just a bit much. I know one thing for sure that next year's team will be as exciting and fun to watch as BF's team is this year. Go Clones...
