Development of post players & hope for future

Was anyone else thrilled to see our three freshmen posts play so well last night? I realize they had huge physical advantages over Lehigh, but still they're coming on so strong and tough. The ESPN announcers were going crazy for Prins, saying her inside-out versatility and size was incredible and that we'll be good for a long time with recruits like her. And he was just as complimentary of Poppens who played with a chip on her shoulder and scored 18 points in 18 minutes.

I have a feeling that we will have a legit shot at the Final Four when our team is comprised of Poppens, Zimmerman and Prins (as seniors), Christofferson and Harris (as juniors) and Stokes and Greenfield (as sophomores).

What do you say, Iowa State WBB, National Champions in 2013?

You have said a mouth full!

I was very impressed that when Aus sat down in the second half the team kept the pressure up on defense and increased the score. How great was that!
With our attendance and our great core of players, why wouldn't top high school players want to come to ISU.

Living in Iowa and a lack of top-ranked programs that female students typically gravitate towards? Fortunately Fennelly has proven to be anything but reliant on high-ranked recruits to put a quality product on the floor. I have high hopes for girls basketball in Iowa continuing to pump out good players and us reaping the rewards of that though.

I would be more worried about our guard play and perimeter shooting in the future. We have struggled without Lacey this season and these are the guards we are depending on in the future.

If they can land Greenfield and another top guard in either 2011 or 2012. This team will be SCARY good when the posts are seniors.

I really believe that the games ISU played without Aus made this team that much better for this year and next year. I really think that they can give UConn a game.

For a program that loses almost a million dollars a year? I don't see how you could justify that, unless for university pride.

We need to get some guards in to compliment them. This team was tough to watch when Aus missed games, there is a big dropoff at guard when she is not in the game and factor in how much we'll miss Stuckey's play as well next season. There is no doubt we are set in the post for the next 3 seasons but if we want to make a serious run at the Final 4 we need to get a couple athletic guards who can create off the dribble like Aus can to bring it altogether.

If more peole would support this GREAT program and attend games it would look better on the bottom line.

So being #3 in attendance this year isn't good enough for you. There is more to revenue than attendance.

    2010 NCAA Women's Basketball Attendance

Is being # 3 OK with you? We should show all the support we can for this great team and knock out UCONN & Tenn and show our women how much we care.
