Lacey Named All-America Finalist
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior point guard Alison Lacey was named one of 40 finalists for the 2010 State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team Thursday. Lacey will be a part of the selection pool as a panel of WBCA coaches choose the 10-member All-America Team.
Lacey was chosen as a Women’s Basketball Coaches of America All-Region 5 Team and is a finalist for the Lieberman Award which recognizes the nation’s top point guard. She was also a unanimous pick by the Big 12 coaches to the All-Big 12 First Team.
The Canberra, Australia, native leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 3.2 and ranks ninth in NCAA Division I assists per game with an average of 6.3 per contest. She has either scored or assisted on 43.7 percent of Iowa State’s points this season.
Lacey is the only player in school history and the seventh player in the history of the Big 12 to record 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists. She became the sixth player to eclipse 1,600 points in Iowa State history.
Lacey and the Cyclones will face top ranked and undefeated Connecticut at 11 a.m. (CST) Sunday in the NCAA Regional Semifinal in Dayton, Ohio. The game can be see on ESPN.

I hope the games she missed, playing for 2 seconds in one game and (what I hope doesn't happen in) the UCONN game don't hurt her chances for this honor.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

When a PG on the 16th ranked team in the nation accounts for 43% of her teams total points on the season.... in an alleged rebuilding year.... in the toughest conference in the country.... That is freaking AWESOME!!!!! She should be on that list of 10 for sure. That and when she leads us to a monumental upset of UCONN.... that shouldn't hurt either.

No doubt, if they succeed in that upset, she is in even if she goes 0-8 from three.

Have we had an All-American in WBB before?

Yes I know Stacy Frese became Iowa State's first AP All-American (1999). I think she was 2nd team. I think Angie Welle was 2nd team also.

Re: Lacey Named All-America Finalist
if she is not an all American I think there is somthing wrong with the system
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

But... she is Australian, obviously not all American. -
