Brittany Wilkins is the only Cyclone to last more than a season in the WNBA. She was with the Monarchs for two seasons, and started a third with San Antonio before being released.
And I counter that Wilkins played 14 total minutes in 5 games (scoring 6 points) while Frese played 222 minutes in 21 games and scored 62 points.

FYI, here's the link on cyclones.com. Must be a first or early 2nd round pick. A lot of top PGs this year to choose from, but PGs and posts are the commodities.

Love Aus, but she'll never stay in the WNBA.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

to be invited to the draft is amazing..
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

The cyclones.com article did mention she is the first ISU player ever to be invited to attend.

    Good for Aus!

If she gets drafted, I might actually pay attention to the WNBA. If they change the season to take place during basketball season.

    Maybe.

All that aside, it's always good to see Twister Sisters get that kind of attention, because it reflects the strength of BF's program.

From what I know about the WNBA, the other factor in how teams draft is that there are a lot of WNBA players that also play overseas. Those players come back for the WNBA pre-season camps and start taking roster spots of those drafted. For this reason, and others, it's incredibly hard to stay on a WNBA roster even if drafted mid to late 2nd round.

Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft

It is harder to make a roster in the WNBA. Last year they cut the rosters from 13 to 11, and the Sacremento team folded, so all those players were added to rosters. It is great for Aus to get this opportunity, and hopefully things will work out well for her. I wouldn't be surprised if she heads back home and plays professionally there.

Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft

How much does the average WNBA player make per year compared to an NBA player?

The women of the WNBA, on the other hand, earned on average between $46,000 (says the union) and $60,000 for the season (says the league).

You can add to that by noting that the WNBA doesn't pay squat. Gals make a LOT more money playing overseas. Whalen is coming back to play here in Minnesota this summer. She has been playing in the WNBA but makes way more money playing in Europe each winter.

It's been reported that the average player can double or triple their WNBA pay by playing in Europe or Asia.
