Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft
That has to be a very promising sign.

Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft
Is she the first ISU player to be invited? Will she be the first to be drafted?

Francis (New York 2000 2nd round #13: 29th overall)
Frese (Utah 2000 3rd round #3: 35th overall)
Taylor (Minnesota 2001 4th round #7: 55th overall)
Welle (Cleveland 2002 2nd round #15: 31st overall)
Gahan (New York 2002 3rd round #14: 46th overall)
Wilson (Connecticut 2003 3rd round #7: 34th overall)
O'Neil (Sacramento 2005 3rd round #4: 30th overall)
Medders (Indiana 2007 2nd round #9: 22nd overall)
Additionally, Brittany Wilkins wasn't drafted but managed to hang around the Sacramento roster for a couple seasons, mostly spent on IR.
I don't know if an ISU player has ever been invited to attend. Lacey has an outside shot at being ISU's first ever first-round pick, but she's more likely a 2nd-rounder.
Due to recent contraction of both rosters and teams as well as the fact that the league has been around long enough to have a fully established base of veterans, it is pretty hard to make a roster anymore.

Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft
Why would they invite her as one of 14 if she's a 2nd rounder? Honest question.

Re: Lacey invited to attend WNBA draft
Great find MRed. I wish the best for her; she deserves it.
I also think having her make a roster would be beneficial for ISU as well.
Anyone hear if she will be doing the 3 pt contest?
BF has said he has been getting calls about Lacey from Pro scouts.

. Anyone actually played besides Francis and Freese ? If I'm not mistaken, the others were drafted but they were cut by the teams before the season began.

Brittany Wilkins is the only Cyclone to last more than a season in the WNBA. She was with the Monarchs for two seasons, and started a third with San Antonio before being released.
