Actually it will not be DII until the following year. This coming year it is still NAIA. She had numerous offers from DII and many offers from NAIA. I guess she just wants to attend Iowa State....Go figure

Re: HS seniors games this weekend in Cedar Rapids
I think her performance stats would indicate that she probably could be a walk on, might see playing time ala Flo and Mo, but BF has talked numerous times about how valuable walk ons are to the team even if they don't see much court time. well, no matter where she goes, I wish her the best of success.

Oh...she IS going to Iowa State. In fact, we are heading to Ames this weekend to evaluate different apartment complexes.

Re: HS seniors games this weekend in Cedar Rapids
I hope you realize that BF does get a little emotional during the games and may at times say things that are over the top. So, I hope you daughter has a thick skin and can take everything he dishes out and more. Since my google skills aren't as good as Red's I have not figured out the identity of the young lady. I wish her all the best both on and off the court. My I success some of the apartment complexes out by the new practice facilities. They are on the bus lines and that area seems to be a quiet and safe neighborhood. It is also within walking distant of HyVee and Cazadors (my favorite restaurant).

We have been going to games since Jayme and Janell were juniors, so we are well aware of the emotion of the coach.
We are looking, for now, in the area by the Dakota streets.

Too bad for your wallet she took a pass on schollies, but I imagine you are quite proud of her. Here's hoping she gets to walk-on and wear the cardinal and gold if that is what she wants.

It's a block off South Dakota on Mortenson.

That was the area I mentioned. Good place and close to the practice gyms.

Re: HS seniors games this weekend in Cedar Rapids
We will have at least one new point guard as a walk-on. She was a very good player this year in high school, but was not as highly recruited for two reasons. First, she never played any AAU during high school. Second, her team did not make the state tournament. They were very close a couple of years, but critical injuries at the wrong time prevented them from making it.

Fan of, are you from her town? I know who you are talking about and wondered if you have close connections to WBB or are from the same town as her.

Does BF announce his walk ons early? I am remember Abby Reinert just sort of showing up on the team. Lange was mentioned because she transferred from Creighton. But, I don't think he ever makes a formal statement like in the Koby Ingle case.

I don't believe he can recruit walk ons or offer a walk on position until the student is enrolled and attending classes, but I have been wrong before.

He can, but it can jeopardize any other scholarships the player has (or possibly count against his scholarship limit) so the safest thing to do is just not offer walk-on positions before an athlete is enrolled.
