2011 Recruiting?
I hear talk of the 2011 recruiting "big class". Obviously that refers not only to the need for number of players we have, but also the heavily talent-laden class of HS players from Iowa that year including Stokes and Greenfield. Who else are we looking at in that class? Johnson has verballed to Iowa I believe. Are either Sharonda Butts or Lindsay Smith Big 12 material at PG?

Re: 2011 Recruiting?
5% chance at Stokes IMO. Gotta try, but don't see ISU in her future.

Re: 2011 Recruiting?
Open schollies: 6 (including the one for Ellis)
Verbal:
Fallon Ellis (Missouri City, TX)
Rumored offers:
Taylor Greenfield (Huxley, IA)
Emily Cady (Seward, NE)
Calli Berna (Fayetteville, AR)
Joey Bailey (Gunter, TX)
Alex Cohen (Bayside, WI)
Markisha Wright (DSM, IA)
I imagine we've offered Kiah Stokes (Marion, IA), but I haven't heard anything confirm that Other names thrown out there:
Eliza Normen (Louisville, CO)
Kara Spotton (Ft Collins, CO)
Sharonda Butts (DSM, IA)
Katie Hempen (Highland, IL)

Re: 2011 Recruiting?
we have heard mention of a PG in New Hampshire that was referred through Medders PG camp i believe, but I haven't been able to find out who. Also, didn't you, MRed, track down a recruiting visit to the East St. Louis area, again I don't know of an offer there either. I believe Markisha Wright has an offer from ISU.

That player was Katie Hempen, Highland HS (IL). I forgot about that. I'll add her to the "other" list since that's very likely who BF was scouting.

Are either Sharonda Butts or Lindsay Smith Big 12 material at PG? according to Tornado Man, he doesn't believe we have offered Smith. He also indicates her interests listed on ESPN do not necessarily represent mutual interest. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...tinued-18.html (WBB Recruiting continued...) -

Katie Hempen (Highland, IL) Wow!!! Cody, Bailey, and Wright would put our inside game on the map. Add Greenfield raining threes from the wing and we would be a force in the Big12 for years to come. I had heard from a friend of Wright's mother that she wants to stay close to home. It would be great for the Cyclones to get the best big players in the state two years in a row.

Re: 2011 Recruiting?
Is this the Alexandra Cohen that you are talking about?
Chicago Fall-Oct. 09: 6-5 post, Nicolet “Alex Cohen of the Full Package Elite continues to show advancements in her game and confidence level on the floor. In Waukegan, the 6-5 post demonstrated some versatility as well that should keep defenders on their toes and college coaches at her door. While being at her best around the rim, she stepped out to connect from the perimeter and ran the floor on the break with the guards. Strength is going to be a key factor as she matures and moves on to the next level and its ultra physical play. Currently ranked 47th in the ESPN HoopGurlz Super 60, Cohen is one of the few true 5s in the class and needs to remain true to the low block and use her varied skills to force match up issues for opponents.” -

I currently have offers from Rutgers, Michigan State, University of California Berkeley, Iowa, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Michigan, Iowa State, Marquette, Missouri, Bowling Green, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have also taken an unofficial visit to Stanford, and have had additional contact with Duke, Georgia and North Carolina State. I don’t really want to narrow my choices down yet and will really start to look at where is a good fit for me after the season.

Re: 2011 Recruiting?
ESPN Hoopgurlz put out their 2011 top 100 list today. A lot of recruits we've been discussing are on the list.
Notes: I think both Kiah and Taylor were rated higher previously, but could be wrong. Virginia Johnson, committed to Iowa, come from nowhere and landed at 54. I think Hoopgurlz is way skewed towards kids who play in the bigger AAU tourneys.
On the list:
Kiah Stokes 19
Taylor Greenfield 23
Eliza Normen 28
Alex Cohen 47
Emily Cady 83 Women's Basketball Recruiting - ESPNU 100 - ESPN -

See #16 on the link. The PG he picked up doesn't sound too shabby either.
