Iowa State / Stanford Recruit Taylor Greenfield invited to USA U17 World bb Team

I see Taylor Greenfield has been invited to the USAB U17 World Championship tryouts June 8th to to 11th. Do we have a legitimate shot at keeping her? Has BF ever had anyone at ISU be part of this team? She would be a HUGE get for us. I can't imagine her getting at least 2 years with the current post players on ISU's roster.

I saw Taylor at a graduation open house on Sunday. Her Dad talked to the host, who told me it seems to be down to ISU and Stanford. It sounded like Dad would like her to stay close - but seems to be leaving it up to her.

I haven't heard of anything official. This was just a casual conversation between her Dad and a friend of mine.

I think it's a real statement to Bill's program that we're competing for recruits with the likes of those programs. Hopefully we can really start pulling in some girls on that talent level.

Edit: Which of course, isn't to say our ladies are not talented. I just reread the post and thought it may be misconstrued.

So does she want to go to Stanford and win games by 20 points (except UCONN), and almost no one cares, or stay close to home and play in front of 10,000 each night (and that number will go up if shed ends up at ISU), become the star female athlete in the state and carry on the Huxley-ISU tradition in the WNBA?

Well she is in Iowa. I would expect we would be there competing for her. Hell, shes not just in Iowa she is basically in Ames.

That's a good list of names to file in the prospect file. Is BF associated with this team? I don't recall which national team he helped with in the past.

I have tried to become more interested in womens basketball in general. I have failed miserably. Obviously there is a strong fan base at a few schools, but most games could be played in a high school gym. If you have a daughter/relative playing it makes a big difference.
