Billy Fennelly Named to Iowa State Women's Hoops Staff
AMES, Iowa- Billy Fennelly has been named the Director of Player Development for Iowa State women’s basketball, ISU Senior Associate Athletics Director Calli Sanders announced Friday.
Fennelly will coordinate ISU video operations for player development, work with student-athletes on life skill development and will be involved with community outreach. His responsibilities will also include assisting with on-campus recruiting activities, serving as the liaison for other department units, such as marketing, academic services and equipment, and the oversight of Iowa State’s women’s basketball social media.
“We are thrilled to have Billy Fennelly join our women’s basketball staff in this important role,” Sanders said. “He has an impressive resume of work with highly successful college basketball coaches and obviously has grown up with a deep knowledge and understanding of Iowa State women’s basketball. We feel the combination of his affinity for Iowa State and his experience working with other highly-accomplished coaches makes him a great fit for our program.”

So how about Lindsey Medders then?

Have they talked about how they are going to address the state nepotism laws. I know that Alford got around it with his Dad, but I know in my department that this would not be allowed to occur.

Billy is getting in line to take over when dad retires. Quote me.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Not that I doubt his abilities, but he needs to prove his salt elsewhere as a head coach first in my opinion. Perhaps that is in the long range plans. I don't see BF going anywhere for 10 years or so.

In a program that already loses $1.5 mil plus a year, it raises eyebrows for ISU to create another administrative job just for Billy to work for his dad.

Especially when the current staff have not gotten raises (actually took cuts in pay with furloughs) in two years despite Elite 8 and Sweet 16 appearances.

Grooming him for when Coach Jack retires? Definitely puts just a little more pressure on the team to improve the next couple years.
