I just got a tip that Iowa State has picked up a women's basketball verbal commitment for the class of 2011. The prospect is Nichole Moody, a 5-foot-11 combo-guard out of Trinity High School in Texas.
Moody chose Iowa State over offers from Kansas and Missouri to name a few.
As a junior, Moody averaged 14.8 PPG and 3.1 APG while shooting 73.9 percent from the field.
I will be trying to catch up with her sometime tomorrow for some comments.
This happened right after 2011 PG Calli Berna (who we offered) committed to Arkansas. I'm guessing Moody had made up her mind to come to ISU but we were holding that scholarship for Berna. Berna pick Arkansas; Fennelly offers Moody; Moody accepts.
Cannot judge too much from the video because we only see her shooting the same shot over and over, but she looks agile enough. I would have liked to have seen her moves to the bucket. It is good that we now have two guards from Texas coming in 2011.
Looks like a typical Fennelly player. Not overly athletic, but a good shooter. Offense will need to create shots for her and hope she knocks them down.
