I guess you can tell it's a down year for wrestling.
Looks like Ben Cash just got beaten badly by #2 seed BJ Futrell.

And #5 seed Drouin just tech fall'ed Dardanes from Minnesota.
been following on the liveblog that was linked on here earlier....
It sucks to see some of our better wrestlers not make the tourney. We have no shot to win, but not having Weatherman, Finch, or Ward is a letdown.
Sounds like we've got several guys who would be scoring points either dealing with family issues or nursing injuries.
According to the live-blog
Finch (personal family issue)
Sorenson (ankle, will be ready for National Duals)
Gadson (injured/redshirting)
Ward (had knee scoped during Christmas break, expected back for National Duals)
Hunter (mother ill, flying to see her today from Chicago)
Also, Weatherman got sick on the way to Chicago. Which is really too bad, I'd been hoping this could be his coming out party after a disappointing first part of the season.
Carr wins his first round match, looks like we're 2-1 so far. But have another back-up wrestler a #2 seed right now so will probably be 2-2 in a few minutes.
Judoka thanks for the inside information. I was a little disappointed not seeing these guys in the line up. It's nice to see we have 3 heavyweights and Spangler is back. It will be interesting to see how they do. Moreno always seems to get some good draws. I look forward to see how he does in his first match.
www.takedownradio.com has results. Video didn't work too well so I'm listening on the radio.
you will need to sign on.
And as predicted, down goes Max Mayfield. 4-14
From intermat:
10:14 a.m. CST: David Bonin (N. Iowa) fought back from 6-2 by putting together a string of takedowns to eventually outscore and then hastily pin No. 3 Derek St. John (Iowa)with :02 seconds left in regulation. Welsh-Ryan went nutty.
Moreno lost 5-17 to #1 seed Andrew Howe from Wisconsin.
Reader gets a quick tech fall in his first match.
I'm most interested in our Heavyweights today. I think whoever places the highest here will be our starter going into National Duals.
Shafer pins the #7 seed at 184 in 2:22!!!!!!
