Don Bosco will be trying to climb onto a solo perch in the Iowa wrestling landscape this week, and there might only be one school – Logan-Magnolia – that can stop it.
Top-rated Don Bosco shares the state record with the Waterloo West team from 1942 to 1946 with five consecutive state team titles. The Dons will try to become the first school to string together six straight as the prestigious meet begins a four-day run on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The Predicament’s final 1-A ratings had Don Bosco and No. 2 Logan-Magnolia with seven wrestlers each in the individual rankings. But things changed a little at districts. Lo-Ma set a school record by advancing a 1-A leading 10 wrestlers to state. Don Bosco qualified six.
