Hopefully Ward is feeling well and shows up.

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Simonson is definetly the underdog, I really more just hope he doens't hurt his back during the match because I think he can get a win or two in the wrestlebacks if he is healthy.

How do you know what mat they are on?

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Ward up 3-1 going into the third, other guy chooses bottom. The 1 point so far was a penalty. He isn't on one of the 4 mats they are streaming, so not sure what Ward did for the penalty. It wasn't stalling though.

Also, everybody should be Cornell and Okie State fans in any matches that don't involve Iowa State. Those are the two teams that can keep Penn State and Iowa away from teh team title.

Honestly I'm ok with PSU winning it all. No ill will towards Cael for stepping out of his own shadow and going somewhere that has the sky as the limit for potential.
Right now all I care about is Iowa cooling off. They've been good so far today.

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Great win for Ward. Iowa is tearing up the first round so far, but that means relatively little at this point. ISU advanced big numbers in the first round the last couple years, but then always fell flat in round 2.

Simonson/Rasing up on Mat 2

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Simonson looks like a 165 pounder next to Rasing.
-
Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Rasing gets a late takedown at the end of the second. Simonson almost fought it off and I think with another 10 seconds would have gotten a reversal. Any guess how much weight Simonson gives up to Rasing? I'm guessing a good 40 pounds at least.
Edit: Just kidding, no points were awarded. SImonson down 0-1 going into the third.

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Simonson gets rode out for the third and loses 2-0. Would have liked to see an upset, but out of our 3 loses this one is the most bearable. Hopefully his back is good to go for the wrestlebacks

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Tough start for ISU, but about as expected. It would have been nice if Drouin could have pulled off his match. My quick review of the brackets has Iowa advancing 8 in the bracket, and Penn State and Cornell each advancing 7.

Re: ***Official NCAA Wrestling Tournament Thread***
Watching 3 seeded guys go down at 165 in the first round makes it even more disappointing that Sorenson couldn't be there. He would have had the 6 seed with a decent showing at B12's. Granted none of the guys that went down would have "cleared the road" for him, but it just shows how open that weight was. I think he could have been top 4.
