We have something Iowa doesn't this year...

So great, that huge bandage but it didn't stop him. That first Near Fall was a gift from the ref, but he earned the second one, and it ended up not mattering anyways. Congrats to Jon! Thanks for your time as a Cyclone!
Also love that he's serious enough about graduating to mention it in his post championship interview. Arnaud and Garrett get more press because their sports are more high profile, but the three of them all demonstrate what it means to be a Cyclone, and Reader also demonstrated the skill to go all the way to the title. With Koll having graduated, I see no question that he is the ISU athlete of the year.

SIGNS OF A GOOD COACH:
Coaching his athletes up to their abilities
KJ has done that with Reader, Varner, Big Z and even Long.
I've had my fair share of criticism for KJ, but thats a good sign imo.
My case in point: Sure, were not a solid team top to bottom, nor a deep team. But at least the guys KJ has here are doing pretty well. And his top guys are reaching their highest goals.

Re: Reader is the image of NCAA Wrestling Championships
Heres my take on the coaching situation that we have here at ISU. I think that Cael is the better recruiter, almost all having to do with his name. Now Coach Jackson, I think he is the better "coach". He has proven this year that he can take the lower level wrestlers in college and make them better. Our wrestling team was nothing great this year but they gave it there all and they improved all year. I truely believe KJ will do great things here at ISU when he can get "his team" here.

I believe it was IMPERATIVE that ISU had a NC this year, if not a finalist, to keep the relevancy in ISU wrestling. This year has been a down year, but at least recruits and younger see ISU on the big screen. Good for Reader, what a badass and a great wrestler.
