I commented during the match I thought he had taken his disadvantage and turned it into more of an advantage with the way he wrestles and "tucks" his good leg. There is just nothing there for an opponent to grab.

That said, I thought he would be at a disadvantage on top because he didn't have the other leg to wrap or drive and yet he turned McD from Iowa twice. Maybe that was pure upper body strength though which he definitely had a huge advantage in.

In the end, it was interesting and can be debated. I tend to think he would lose if the two of them wrestled again, but who knows.

it's both. it just depends on who's affected by it. robles obviously knows how to work around the issue. a novice wrestler would probably be negatively affected by it.

bottom line, great story, happy for the kid.

I don't see the *****. Nothing to stop UofI or any other wrestlers from cutting off their leg. Heck, cut off both. I mean how unfair for the Iowa guy to live with 2 legs his whole life and have to dig deep to overcome a handicap of having 2 legs for about 9 minutes yesterday.

The biggest advantage Robles has is the ability to bench press 300 plus pounds..

IMO, the problem wasn't so much that he was stronger, but that his style of wrestling was so much different than every other opponent that you normally prepare for, that you're completely out of your game. Moves don't work like you learn them to - it is not easy to prepare for someone like this.

In the end, you weigh the same, gotta beat them.

If its such an advantage, wouldn't every one legged kid be wrestling? He worked his butt off to make that his advantage. I bet if Robles and McD wrestle again that McD would beat him. McD gave him his hand both times and got tilted. He is a guy you can have a plan and beat him. McD didn't have a plan; he would next time. Also, I guess the seeds were right, Robles #1, McD #2 and Precin #3. The hawks complained alot about that also. Congrats to ROBLES!
