This lineup looks great. The issue I have is Cozart and Weatherman being at the same weight. I would like to get all of last years class on the mat. I think the competition should help the winner, but I would still like to see them both out there. SI the true freshman at 133 going to be Pena?

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
Talk is Pena will not be at Iowa State; heard he's headed for Cornell. Rumor, but everybody is pretty sure that is happening. The 133 pound true frosh will be Schlosser.

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
I think Weatherman and Cozart start at 149 and see how the weight cut goes. Probably easier to take one up to 157 is Moreno struggles than Weatherman down if Cozart stuggles during season at 149.

that lineup looks so much better then last years. i think if you could somehow match them up against each other, this one would freaking dominate last years. ward going down seems like a major stretch, but who knows. i think weatherman has the most to lose/gain by that lineup. if he can't make that cut, will he even be a starter at 57?

I think the Weatherman cut, is part because Moreno is better than Cozart and Weatherman struggled at 157. So in order to get both (Weatherman and Moreno) in the lineup, Weatherman had to go to 149, if nothing else for the better team lineup.

so did he say the level of certainty of everyone getting to these weights? and then maintaining a top level? i just gotta believe ward will be gassed at that weight. hell, he was gassed this year most of the time it seemed.

I think KJ wants Gadsen in the lineup and that only option is 197 and Ward didn't show much more energy at 197 this year vs 184 last year, so he wants Ward to make the cut. I also assume Gadsen is bigger than Ward, so the cut will be easier for Ward.

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
That would be a pretty awesome lineup. Hopefully everybody can make those cuts.

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
Any chance that we could get 133 Moore from Iowa to transfer in?

Ward never really came back after the knee surgery. He wasn't exactly packing a beer belly or anything though, so I do wonder if he'll be able to make the cut. But to be honest, while I'd prefer Ward, I'd be perfectly comfortable with Shafer at 184. If not, Shafer will be a great back-up at 184/197 and would be back in the line-up in 2012/13 once Ward graduates.
I wonder if the long term plan for Voelker is to go up to heavy, or down to 184. Because I can't see Gadson giving up his spot other than for injury.

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
I'm really excited about this line-up. We might not be challenging for the title this year, but we could do a lot of damage at National Duals with that list, and a minimum of four all-americans.

Re: Jackson announces expected lineup for 11-12
I really worry about the health of some of these wrestlers. Some just can not stay healthy. While I think the dream line up looks good, I don't know if it can come to fruition. Haven't heard how Sorensen, Simonson, Spangler are all doing. All had pretty big injuries. I am hoping and praying that they are 100% come go time.
I still do not think Ward can cut to 184 and stay healthy, but I have heard that Gadsen is huge and won't go back to 184. I guess we will have to see how that plays out.
I still want to see Coach Jackson and his crew TEACH these tough guys how to get to the level they need to be. He has good/raw talent in the room and these guys want to win championships, but need GREAT leadership and teaching. This year will show what the coaching staff is made of too. Hope we see great improvement in our team.
The desire for greatness is there......hope they make it happen.
