It's too bad people can't let him leaving be what it was, a life decision for himself and his family. It wasn't him being a traitor, it was just good business.
I for one wish him the best!

I for one wish him the best! He never should have taken the job then. We ran off a great coach so he could move into the head spot. That was the lousy part of the deal. And that is on him.

My full support? Definately Yes!
Again, I hope he qualifies, goes to London and wins gold again!

Wow. I thought Herbert had a very good chance of beating Cael. Impressive.

Re: Cael wins 84Kg
I'll be watching and rooting for Cael hopefully all the way to the gold. He's a freak.

Better opportunities came up for Cael. Let it go man.
We need to look to our own team and build them up, not wallow in the past. Get behind Coach Jackson and crew and build Iowa States program back to a dynasty.
We can't sit around and say, "Oh, woo is me". We need to be strong and fearless!

We can't sit around and say, "Oh, woo is me". We need to be strong and fearless! It's great to have Reader, Varner, Sanderson and the Paulsons competing for spots in World tournaments. It's great that a dedicated wrestling facility is in the near future.
The increased football TV revenue from the 10 team Big 12 Conference is building the new football training facility and the Jack Trice Field scoreboard and the wrestling team gains too. We need to win the NCAA championship again. !987 is too long ago.
ISU has the great history of individual championships, 65. We need add the 9th team championship. Putting money into wrestling is putting money to good use.

Re: Cael wins 84Kg
The thing with Cael that is tough for a lot of people was that we knew he was going to PSU for a higher salary, a much higher one than here. I think if he would have just said that, it would have been easier on some of the wrestling fan ego's in this state.
Iowa, UNI, and ISU fans all say that the state of Iowa is the strongest wresting state in the country in terms of college and high school but also don't realize how big it is in Penn.
I think if he would have just said "Hey who wouldn't leave their current job for a another one in a good market, that oh by the way, pays you 3 times what you are making currently?"
I honestly am still a little peeved that he left but I can understand it. I also think people need to let go of him taking over for Douglas. ISU was too afraid that Cael would leave at the time and create Gable version 2.0. Well there is a chance that's happening now, and most likely because of money, pure and simple.

Re: Cael wins 84Kg
Cael may have left strictly for the money, or the fact that we were giving bigger raises than Cael's whole salary to lousy coaches like Chiz and GMac may have started him looking. Cael's not saying so who really knows but him. I do know I'll be rooting for him to kick Iowa's butt from now on and he's got a good chance of doing it.

Re: Cael wins 84Kg
The 2 greatest wrestlers came from ISU, one is already the most successful collegiate coach, the other may become the second. And we are unable to retain them a coaches.

Re: Cael wins 84Kg
Reader gave Cael his toughest match of the day and with him improving rapidly by leaps and bounds I would not be surprised if he knocks him off a year from now.
