Re: Got to look ahead
That's a lineup that can do a lot of damage in Des Moines that March

Getting Meeks is a huge commitment for KJ, but at the same time, we won't likely see him in actual competition in a Cyclone singlet for another 2.5 years (fall of 2013).
Most people calling for KJ's head are oblivious to this fact and don't realize the full extent of the damage done when Cael left and took a full reruiting class with him. Damn, I'm starting to sound like those d-bag McDermott apologists.

Boaz Beard, David Taylor, Trent Weatherman, and Marchiotti (sp - 197# at Arizona State)

I'm new to the forum but I have followed ISU wrestling since 1967. I really like the Finch kid and the Gadsen kid. -

Damn, I'm starting to sound like those d-bag McDermott apologists. It works the other way too. The impact Brands had on Iowa when he brought in half a recruiting class to go with what they already had and Cael bringing in his to Penn St. to go with what they had are huge boosts to the program.

I think we will have a good team this year, but not on the level to compete with Iowa, Okie State and Penn State. I think we have a lot of guys that could make R12 and/or 6-8 AA, but not the guys that will be in the top 4 at Nationals.
I think were moving in that direction - (Finch and Gadsen will get there)

The name Tim Krieger brings back good memories.

Agree, Penn State, Iowa, and Okie State are going to be tough to beat this year. Also heard Ward is currently hurt and no timetable on a return. Everybody else is on plan to be ready, except Gadsen (not till around the Iowa meet)

We are so far away from truly contending it makes me sick to my stomach. Thanks, Cael.

We are so far away from truly contending it makes me sick to my stomach. Thanks, Cael. KJ has a huge number of wrestlers in the room this year. Competition will make them better, but he wasn't in a position to get a lot of blue chip guys last year. Now that the room is full with multiple kids at many weights, he will be concentrating on the blue chipper such as Meeks (already signed) and Moreno. Heard the main recruit he is working on right now is Massa (#1 recruit in country), sounds like is may make an official visit to Iowa State after school starts, but probably will end up at Michigan. Also after Koethe and Gage Harrah. That will probably be the class. 4-5 blue chip wrestlers
