West Virginia was the best possible addition for Wrestling
Of all the schools that were legitimate expansion targets, West Virginia had something no other school had: A competitive Wrestling team. So even with Mizzou on the way out we will keep at least 4 wrestling schools and a conference championship. This is a huge boon to our team.
So welcome to the best pound for pound wrestling conference around Mountaineers! I will burn a couch in your honor!

Wasn't BYU a legitimate target?
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

"Was"? Why are you saying it in the past-tense. WVU will be part of the BigXII today.

1st let me say that I am partial to west virginia and having said that....
I would like to see the Big XII invite "both" west virginia & Louisville....
How about also adding BYU in football and Notre Dame in all sports except football.
as my Rich Uncle used to say .. "Nobody has ever gone broke playing Notre Dame"...
Does anyone know how Wrestling Recruiting is going right now???
Go Cyclones Swamp those Red Raideers........... -

Thanks guys I hope we decide to jump into the B12 wrestling league also. Seems some of the bean counters are trying to decide whether it is cost effective or not. I feel sure common sense will rule the day and we get to participate in the best college wrestling league out there.
As some of you may already know, we have been wrestling in the EWL(Eastern Wrestling League). The Big East only 3 schools who participate....West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Rutgers. Coach Turnbull has the head coach for 33 years and is currently the 9th winningest active coach in the NCAA. He has coached 18 all Americans, 5 national champions, 22 EWL champions and sent 155 individuals to the NCAA Championships. We recently kicked off our season at a dual at the U of Maryland. I know it would be a huge step up to the B-12, but it will only make us better. Here is the link to a CBS writeup on yesterday's results. Thanks! West Virginia University Mountaineers - MSNsportsNET.Com That's cute. Kevin Jackson only has 3 in 2 years.
I'm just messing with you though. It's great to add another wrestling team. I can't wait to visit Morgantown someday. Welcome to the Big 12.

Does the SEC have wrestling or did Mizzou just off theirs with this move.

Re: West Virginia was the best possible addition for Wrestling
All I can find for SEC wrestling is that some teams (like Auburn) compete in the NCWA, which also contains club teams from schools around the country, including ISU.
Based on my limited knowledge, I would say that this move would signal that Mizzou is basically done with wrestling.
