    Lisbon Bullying

Allegations of Severe Bullying on Lisbon High School Wrestling Team | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local News

Just came across this story on KCRG. I was shocked what actually happened in that school. Bullying has gone a long way since I was in school. I really hope this is only a issue at this school and not a wide spread issue.

    Re:Lisbon Bullying

I heard that they were tea bagging the freshman in addition.

Reminds me of that episode of south park when cartman took a pic of putting junk in butters mouth and tried to call him gay.

As a past wrestler and wrestling fan I find this appalling and hope that these kids get kicked off the team as well as charged with some sort of assault.

    Re: Lisbon Bullying

Horrible and disgusting!! The horrible crap people come up with to do to others is truly incredible. Incredibly sad!

Not sure if this is accurate or just notice it more... but kind of seems like many more people are reporting hazing, abuse, etc... since the Penn State ordeal has gone down.

    Re: Lisbon Bullying

Rampant homophobia doesn't make these things any better. It's a worldwide problem, the US is probably one of the least homophobic countries and it's still a major issue here.

The disgusting Abu Ghraib embarrassment where the US military was ramming broom sticks up prisoners rear ends shows repressed homophobic rage like this is waaaaaaaaaaay bigger than high school kids, sports or the sport of wrestling (I was a wrestler myself and still a fan/proponent of the sport). That was an international embarrassment that probably led to continued generations of hate and terror.

I don't mind some hazing (we taped freshman to goal posts, used them as tackling dummies, and stuff like that) but peeing on someone and sexual stuff is just messed up.

    Re: Lisbon Bullying

What does one call a person who lives in Lisbon? I've been in this area for nearly 10 years, best I can come up with is Lisbian.

Lisbon jokes aside, I think the best course of action is that some unidentifiable folks from town show the tough guys who's tough.

Wresters are used to balls on their face all the time.. Getting peed on is another story.

Not only will these guys get kicked off the team, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had to register as a sex offender if they are found guilty of this. That alone will cause them to regret this for a very long time.

Holy crap, good point. Way to screw up your future. Hope the 'pee on the freshman' game was fun.

There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams

If my son was getting picked on that severely I would think about enrolling him somewhere else.
