Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
Looks like total match points decided it.
Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
They both won 5 matches so it went to the second tiebreaker (total match points in all matches). There are no ties anymore so Oklahoma State won 17-16. Gable was just stunned on IPTV and rationalizing that it doesn't really count as a loss.

No he wasn't. He said during the last match that Gambrall had to win or Iowa would lose. He said it was a lack luster ending (which it was) and commented on how even OSU wasn't celebrating the win and walked off into the locker room before the official announcement was made.
Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
It was good meet. Very even teams. Good to see OSU walk out with the victory.
Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
Pretty much as according to plan except for Ramos beating Oliver, which was better than the other 9 matches combined.

Yes it was, and the Ramos/Oliver match was outstanding. They are even but remember Iowa was also without St. John at 157 a weight OSU won. But you can't say St. John would have won for sure anyway just like I didn't think Ramos would beat Oliver.
Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
Did anyone see if PBS plans on replaying this? I'd like to record it.
Re: Okie State squeaks by Iowa on the mat
Gable was out of control during the end of the Ramos match, his extreme homerism was coming through

Thanks

Ramos got lucky. Oliver will beat him when it counts

It's different doing a game/match on ESPN, Fox, ABC, etc... and being impartial as compared to doing a game/meet on IPTV when one of the teams isn't from this state.

In the end, is that really an issue? For an Iowa meet against Oklahoma State? On Iowa public television? I guess I don't see much need for him to be neutral in that situation.
I don't think it's any different that Walters and Heft being homers on an ISU broadcast.
And don't try and argue, that was an "Iowa broadcast," officially or not.

You might be right about Oliver beating him when it counts, but Ramos didn't get lucky, hell he took all the shots from the 2nd period through the overtimes and was the aggressor. Oliver got a lead and tried to hang on and it didn't work.
