Most of you probably already know this but VT head coach Kevin Dresser wrestled at Iowa and is originally from Humboldt, IA. He lived just down the street from me and I remember going to his basement to wrestle with all the other neighborhood kids. They had a partial wrestling mat down in the basement so it was pretty cool as a kid to wrestle on an "official wrestling mat". I didn't last long in wrestling. I decided pretty quickly that I was better suited for basketball!

I got 2nd to him at Conference, Sectional, and Districts. I just forgot to get 2nd to him at State. I was a Senior, he was a Junior

Those are 2 names I remember. Both are older than me, I graduated in '84, but I remember watching Mitch wrestle at the high school when I was a kid. He was involved with the summer youth baseball program when I is in it too. Both good people.

Finch wins it 2-0. Not his best match but stayed solid and didn't do anything stupid. Iowa State leading 3-0 after one match.

Hallman down 13-4 to start the 3rd. If he can avoid getting teched or pinned that is a plus for the team. He's been going for lots of shots but getting countered. I like his fight.

Damn. Carter gets the Tech Fall 23-8. Can't ask for more than that from Hallmann against a top ranked guy. He fought hard and never quit. Team score is 5-3 Virginia Tech.

141 up next. This is a huge match for Goettl. 149 should be a toss up as well.
