Re: Virginia Tech Preview and Predictions

Shafer gives up a TD with 1 second left to force overtime at 197. Then loses 6-4 in OT. Meet comes down to Heavyweight. I'm not impressed at 174/184/197 tonight.

    Iowa State up 16-14.

Gibson wins 11-1 at Heavyweight. Iowa State takes the day with a 20-14 win.

Way to go to the Cyclone Wrestlers. Great meet tonight (174-197 excepted).

Re: Virginia Tech Preview and Predictions

Iowa State wins against #15 Virginia Tech!!!

The Good: Sorenson dominated yet another top 10 wrestler. Andrew is the real deal and I expect him to be a high AA this year at the least. Possible finalist. I also can't give enough credit to Hallman, Swalla, and Moreno tonight. Only Moreno got the win but they all have continued to fight their ***** off and make me proud to be a Cyclone.

The bad: England, Beard, and Shafer. No excuses for two loses and a fairly close decision. I am very proud of 7 of our wrestlers tonight. Those three are the exceptions.

The ugly: Nothing tonight, those three were bad, but not horrible.

Wow, really???? Beard won and your criticizing him? England and Shafer fought hard and kept it close both with good matches. I see improvement with both and they never quit. Shafer went into OT, Kid never kept him down. GEEEEEZ.
Overall, conditioning of the team looked better in my opinion, big riding times decreased. Again, give these guys a break.....

Like I said. Bad, not ugly. None of those matches should have been that close and compared to the other 7 wrestlers they didn't embarrass but neither did they impress. If those guys want to win at nationals they will have to do much better. As a whole the team is vastly better than they were in November.
