Cornell Meet
I think this is a winnable meet.
125 - Finch vs Perrelli L (0-3)
133 - ? vs Pena L (0-6)
141 - Goettl vs Nevinger W (3-6)
149 - Swalla vs Villalonga L (3-10)
157 - Moreno vs Eifert L (3-13)
165 - Sorenson vs Schreiner W (9-13)
174 - Spangler vs Peppelman W (13-13)
184 - Beard vs Bosak L (13-16)
197 - Shafer vs Simaz L (13-22)
HWT - Gibson vs Jochym W (17-22)
Need an upset and everyone to wrestle.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice Bill Cosby -
Re: Cornell Meet
Winnable, but bonus points and Dake wrestling will make a big difference.
I'm not sure if Spangler will wrestle. Finch will need to win.
Key to win
125 - Finch upset win
133 - Tossup vs true frosh
141 - Favorite Goettl
149 - Favorite Cornell (need to avoid bonus)
157 - Tossup unless Dake wrestles, then 5-6 for Cornell
165 - Heavy favorite Sorenson, need 4-6, unless Dake wrestles up the 3 for Cornell
174 - Dec to us, whether its Spangler or England
184 - Cornell heavy favorite, If Boaz wrestles, need to keep it to 3 or 4, otherwise probably 6 if Christensen wrestles
197 - Cornell heavy favorite, probably 5-6
Hwt -Heavy favorite for us, need bonus points
-
Re: Cornell Meet
Cornell could easily score 15-18 points at 3 weights. 157 - Dake, 184 - Bosak, 197 - Simaz

Re: Cornell Meet
Swalla is out for the rest of the season. Ruptured pec.

Re: Cornell Meet
Ouch. Are either Weatherman or Mayfield ready to go? Or do we pit out Cash and Hallman at 133/141 and bump Goettl to 149 for this one?

As to who gets the spot, if Mayfield or Weatherman can't go, and I haven't heard how close either is, then you probably bump up Cash to 149. Goettl needs all the wins he can get for qualifying and bumping him to '49 won't help. I have no idea what's going on with Cozart, but if he's healthy and his head is right, then I suppose we run him out there.
Honestly, I don't think I've ever followed a team that's had so many injuries.

Re: Cornell Meet
I would hate to see them mess with Goettl's success at 141.

If Cozart is healthy I think he gets the nod though. Since the only other real option without bumping up at 141 and 149 would be to pull Domonic Chase's redshirt.
I'll wait to make my preview thread until Cyclones.com posts the meet notes, since so many weights are up in the air right now.

I understand what you're saying there and know you weren't suggesting that Goettl bump for the postseason. I would just rather see him racking up wins at '41 to help his own postseason aspirations vs bumping up for a dual or two to help the team.
Does anybody know what's going on with Cozart? Did he get hurt, beat out, or just benched?

Re: Cornell Meet
That was my assumption as well.

Re: Cornell Meet
Does anyone know if (and to what extent) Weatherman and/or Mayfield have been working out? For that matter, what about Spangler? As much as I'd love to see Ward recommit and make a final run at things, what I saw in him last year was someone through with wrestling.
For those of you experts: is it likely that we don't see Weatherman/Mayfield again, so they can apply for a extra year due to medical hardship? Originally Posted by ca4cy That's too bad. He always gave a good effort despite being overmatched in a lot of his matches.

Re: Cornell Meet
We won't see weatherman until next year if at all. He has a bad disk in his back. Hopefully Cozart or Mayfield are ready. Word was Mayfield had about the worst concusion anyone has seen and I believe it will be Mikey at 174 Spangler could be done for his career as well with concusion issues.

Oh, man that is too bad. I sure hope he and the other team members who have been struggling with injuries come back quick at 100%. Wow, we just can't catch a break!

I don't think most of this is true. I hear Spangler, Mayfield, Ward and Weatherman are working out again and could see that mat by Feb 1
