Sorenson just breaks the will of the Cornell wrestler and gets a tech fall after a takedown clinic.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
Final score is 28-12.
-The loss by Goettl was bad, he was sick this week so hopefully that played a big part of it. Both he and Cozart gave up big moves and weren't able to come back from them.
-Beard getting "pinned" was a bad call by the ref and that cost us a chance to see how he matched up against an elite guy.
-Great match and effort by Moreno against one of the best wrestlers in college.
-Great to see Sorenson cap off senior night with an absolutely dominant win. Just broke the will of the Cornell wrestler.

That guys story of being a walkon to being a legit national title contender is truely amazing. Thanks for all the hard work Andrew, you are the type of wrestler that everyone strives to be.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
Question for Buf or anyone else who made the meet. What did Gottel look like today? Sounds like if he stays close he is unbeatable, but he last couple times that he falls down early from a throw or something; he just struggles to come back. Great wrestler if it's close, but has a little of that freshman in him when he falls down early.
Had to take my son to a youth tourney or would have been there.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
Goettl didnt really do anything. The Cornell guy pushed most of the action. His match today reminded of the way he started the year to be honest. Was really diaappointed with his wrestling today.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
According to the live blog he was sick all week. But even so, he looked bad out there.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
Cornell guy forced the action and decided the match for Goettl. Goettl got a real nice takedown and thought he was going to go on a run and lost control of action again. Moreno wrestled a heck of a match, but something was up with Dake, he was grasping after the 1st period. 1st match at 157 in awhile and Moreno gave him all he wanted.
I actually thought this was the best match Cozart had wrestled in awhile. Went for the win and came close to getting it in the 3rd and fought and didn't give up the pin.
Trevor Voelker, what did anyone expect wrestling #1 Simaz in your 1st match.
Beard, we just don't know with that quick touch fall.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
Results:
165: #4 Andrew Sorenson (ISU) tech fall. (4pts) Marshall Peppelman (CU), 21-6* (Cornell, 28-11)
*Sorenson was only awarded four team points because he did not have any nearfall points
I didn't realize this rule!!

It shouldnt matter when beat him by 15. Not that the points made a difference in the results. Just really annoys me!

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
They changed that rule a few years ago. I take it as they are trying to not award too much for just taking down and releasing a guy.
I do agree though it is strange because if you dominate a guy so much and score over 20 points on him you should get 5 team points.

Re: Cornell Preview, Predictions, and Results
My one issue with this rule is whats the difference between having a takedown clinic like what Sorenson did versus what Gibson did in riding the guy and turking the him and getting points that way. There is no way to pin a guy from a turk, its mainly just for points. It shouldnt matter how you get those 15 points. If you beat there ***, you beat there ***.
