UNI dual
How important is this dual for our team?
I think it is extermely important for 2 reasons.
1. Seeding at Nat'l duals - get 2nd or 3rd seed opposite Iowa
2. In state victory and keep doubters away.
I will be there rooting on the Clones. Hope the team is healthy and ready to wrestle!

Re: UNI dual
When is the dual? I dont remember the remaining schedule.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: UNI dual
It's big if for no other reason than the fact that there are some winnable matches there for our younger guys and they need the confidence. As you also stated, a win should give us the 2 or 3 seed at duals and that gives us a good chance of getting 3 matches for everybody there. You can't win big matches if you don't wrestle them.
I'll be there as well Friday. Looking forward to the shorter drive. I assume it starts at 7:00, correct?

Re: UNI dual
I may have to head up there too!

Re: UNI dual
I will be there as well. Should be a good meet. I haven't looked too closely at the individual matchups yet but I think we win it.

Re: UNI dual
Yes it's 7 on Friday. Not sure where they wrestle duals.
125 - Aarhus (Ryak pinned him at Nichols Open, need to see offensive and bonus)
133 - Colon (probably giving up 5-6 here)
141 - Wolfensberger (Wolf wrestling up, Goettl must win this)
149 - Noble (I don't know whose favored here)
157 - Bonin (Moreno might be able to win this one)
165 - Banach (need 5-6 points from Andrew)
174 - Prestidge - (he like 4-16, need 5-6 points from England or Spangler)
184 - Loder (We need Beard and has to be at top of his game to be competitive)
197 - Kettman (would probably be a bonus win for Shafer, not sure on Christenson and Voelker)
Hwt - Beale (Gibson should win, but needs to be ready)

Hwt - Beale (Gibson should win, but needs to be ready) Usually they're at the West Gym, unless they're expecting a big enough crowd to justify the McLeod Center, which I doubt is the case here.
I see this as a very winnable dual. Hopefully we smell blood and look to dominate where we can.

Re: UNI dual
UNI records are
125 - Aarhus - 18-10
133 - Colon - 17-2
141 - Wolfensberger 7-3
149 - Noble - 13-8 (wrestles 141/149)
157 - Bonin - 22-6
165 - Banach - 18-12
174 - Prestidge 4-18 (wrestles 174/184/197)
184 - Loder - 24-2
197 - Kettman - 13-11
Hwt - Beale - 21-8

Re: UNI dual
Never been to a dual up there. Where is west gym?

Re: UNI dual
I know Schwab is going to have UNI fired up for this one.
Ranking the hardest matches are
133 - Colon (looking good and a weak weight for us)
184 - Loder (looks like an AA candidate)
157 - Bonin (beatable)
Hwt -Beale (beatable)
The 2 question marks for us seem to be 149, this is a chance for Joe to perform
and 197 - I don't know what to expect if Shafer is not there. Think its a sure win with Shafer, not sure on Christensen and Voelker.

184 - Loder - 24-2
197 - Kettman - 13-11
Hwt - Beale - 21-8 Based on what I know about UNI and the lineup posted above, I'd look at the dual something like....
125- ISU strong favorite
133- UNI strong favorite
141- ISU favorite
149- Toss up
157- UNI slight favorite (dont' think he's seen the schedule Moreno has)
165- ISU strong, strong favorite
174- ISU strong favorite
184- UNI favorite (shot at redemption for Boaz)
197- Push?
Hwt- ISU favorite
I think ISU has more potential for bonus points and that could be the difference. Cozart needs to show up and Moreno needs to build on what he's been doing. UNI's chances will hinge on winning both of those. UNI will feel they have a legit chance to win this thing and they will be hungry to knock off an in-state school. I hope to God we beat them (badly would be nice) as I don't want to give Schwab any more traction than he's already gained.

Re: UNI dual
I think there is only one real "must win" and that comes in the form of a strong overall performance at the National Tourney. But if there was an "almost a must win," this UNI meet would be it. Originally Posted by buf87 How important is this dual for our team?

Re: UNI dual
In wrestling, is it a dual or a duel?
