Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
Not really happy with the effort we had that match but I think having to wrestle back to back really put us at a disadvantage. I think if we see OSU in a dual meet, head to head, I think its a lot closer. Our replacement weights hurt us as far as team points but both wrestled well. Shayden wrestled his heart out, love to see that. Even though we loose the dual, we face Va Tech who we already beat herw at Hilton. May see a lot of gased out wrestlers with both teams wrestling back to back to back. Hope the Clones get another win!

We don't wrestle anymore, we are done. UNI will wrestle Wisky. They make sure each team gets two matches, makes sure fans get to see their team twice.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
Winning it all was a real long shot, much more than I realized before, considering the quick turnaround and the advantage to UI and OSU of the first round bye.
Obviously good to see Ward get a W. I hope he can build on that in the practice room between now and the Big 12 tournament, and obviously, that everyone gets a second wind (and healed).
Many here probably don't know, but the OSU coach is Jim Zalesky, the former UI head coach. So the final is between his team and Brand's, the guy who replaced him.

Not the most impressive day for attendance

How bad did Iowa beat them?

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
How did Ward look? I'm seeing the posts about looking like he was in pain so that would likely preclude him being able to wrestle a bunch of matches over 2-3 days in a month. That's really too bad. He could score a lot of points for us and it would be nice to see him close out his career as an AA once again.

Re:National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
I thought he looked good all things considered. He took injury time but came back and didn't look much worse for the wear in my opinion. Got a big td late to seal it. Looked a little more offensive than in the past as well I thought.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
Ward started the match very well. Hit some good shots and did some good things until the middle of the 2nd and 3rd period came along. Ward did what I was afraid of a guy that hasnt wrestled all year would do, he gased out. Ward may be our best option as far as skill set goes but conditioning is gonna be an area of concern. Hopefully between now and the NCAAs he can get to work on that and be ok.

Gassing out is what Ward does, I don't like it but at this point he isn't going to change. I was more worried about his back.

When he was taking injury time it looked like a leg injury to me but was somewhat hard to see.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
The Big 12 should get three bids at 197. That means Ward only has to beat Hall from Oklahoma to qualify. He is certainly capable of that.
