Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
Ward is definitely an improvement at 197, those takedown in the 1st period were sweet. Meeks is ranked #17 and other than the 3rd period issue, Jerome handled him fairly easily.
KJ mention in his post injury that he hopes Jerome back injury didn't show back up, I do also because Jerome could qualify for nationals and score a few points for us.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
As far as the team, I thought 8 of 10 looked really good against Wisconsin. Voelker gave up to many points on the edge and Sorenson was to passive.
I think Sorenson wanted to wrestle smart to get the revenge, but don't know what was wrong with his head, thought it looked like padding above his eye and that might have been bothering him. I'm glad he got the revenge.
Against Oregon State, was a different story. I assume, Goettl was a little dinged up and your 2 opponents to potentially face are #4 Mangrum and #6 Marion, you take the safe route, probably the smart move. England should of dominated that guy, was in on multipe shots and just couldn't finish.
The Joe Cozart in know was back, he had a sweet little leg shot in one of the matches and extremely quick, I just don't know why he doesn't use it more.
Moreno has to be smarter on exposing his back.
As far as conditioning, I don't think that was an issue, this is what you are going to have to do at Big 12's and Nationals.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
How did spangler look? Was KJ just trying to get him a little work before Big XII's? Thought he might have been more competitive than Mikey against OSU.
I feel that a fresh ISU could have beaten OSU with spangler, ward and goettl. Team is starting to develop, definitely promise is there for next year. Hope we finish well and have a good offseason and get healthly.

First period was great but the second and third periods you could see he was starting to lose his conditioning. It wasnt anything to bad but he didnt have near what he should of when he was beating the guy 7-0

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
I think at this point KJ isn't going to take any chances with any potential National Qualifiers.
Like others said, Spangler looked really good 1st period and shut it down 2nd and 3rd. Was it conditioning or lingering effects from the concussions, I don't know. I personally think his conditioning is alright.
Goettl same thing, just got him rolling, if his knee is tweaked (even a little), hold him out. These duals really don't mean that much to me as far as the big picture.
I want guys healthy and as close to 100% for Big 12's. Still think the only 2 I don't think have a chance to qualify are 133 and 149. Ward can at 197 and Moreno has proven he can beat Lester.
As far as Mikey, the better wrestler didn't win that match. Mikey got caught. Needs to finish takedown, plain and simple!

I am glad we have three weeks before the Big XIIs. Gives the guys time to heal up and get their conditioning back.

Was it a throw? I didn't know there was audio until the very end. Those announcers were awful. In the championship, they spent most of the time talking about tattoos and hitting on some woman from minny who was there.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
I was thinking Moreno had an outside shot of qualifying, but I don't anymore short of getting really lucky at the Big XIIs. He has faced a number of mediocre wrestlers the past few weeks and failed to impress at all.
Assuming they get and stay healthy, I think we qualify Finch, Goettl, Sorenson, Spangler, Beard, Ward, and Gibson.

Re: National Duals Ames Regional Preview/Prediction
BCClone - It wasn't a throw, more like Mikey got caught in the middle of a shot of his own.
If I remember right. The other guy didn't have much offense.
