Re: 3 Iowa State recruits in the State Wrestling Finals
Ross Larson seems like a beast. I'm very curious to find out his plans for college and if he wrestles I want to see how well his skills translate in college.
The championship match is the first I have watched. Very impressive year. I believe someone posted that he won state last year, but what did he do as a freshman and sophmore?

Re: 3 Iowa State recruits in the State Wrestling Finals
I doubt any wrestler in the state had a more impressive year than Larson with 38 first period pins in 41 matches, including 3 at the state tournament. He's also a great baseball player but I'm hoping his first love is football (at ISU). Probably pretty close to impossible but maybe he could do both.

Re: 3 Iowa State recruits in the State Wrestling Finals
here come our 2 football recruits. Kane Seeley at 220, then Collin Bevins at 285 right after. Both in class 2A

First match of Seeley's that I've watched. Crazy quick for a guy that size. He is wrestling at 220, but what do you think he weighed in at? 200ish?

Why are you so amped for him to play football here? The kid was not offered a scholarship to play football by anyone as far as I know. What makes you think he will do more than add to the bench, and maybe play special teams as a senior?

Not sure, probably pretty close to 220 actually, since he has been at that weight class for 2 years. he wrestled 215 last year when he pinned Bevins in the state finals.

Hopefully near 215 his listed recruiting profile weight. He does look fairly slight for that weight class. He would be a terrific wrestler at the next level if he had a weight class. I still don't know what Mizzou is going to do with Willie Miklus, who is like a better wrestling version of Seeley.

Bevins and Hopp in the same singlet colors, this could get confusing. Bevins is the taller one for those watching.

Those last 5 pounds must make a huge difference because he looked a lot smaller than the rest of those guys. I guess muscle is more dense than fat.

Larson does not have a scholarship to play football at Iowa State.
Zeb Wahle is Blu Wahle's brother and going to Maryville to wrestle

Re: 3 Iowa State recruits in the State Wrestling Finals
Meeks is incredibly fast.
Moreno had a great tournament.
Ross Larson is a great thrower, I don't know how well that will transfer.
Kane completely dominated. He is 210.
Bevins is a big kid. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up 270-280.

Re: 3 Iowa State recruits in the State Wrestling Finals
brett108- I'll be amped if Larson comes to ISU, whether it's football or wrestling. I was told he's a d-1 football prospect but missed most of last season with an injury, so is under the radar. I also heard the announcer say tonight that he thought Larson was going to ISU next year to play football, but I don't know whether that is accurate or not. But the guy is definitely a big and agile athlete and one of if not the most dominant wrestler in the state this year. CPR loves football players that are also good wrestlers, so I'm just doing some speculating that he might be on CPR's radar for football, but I don't know that to be a fact.

That Ballard team is considered one of the best teams of all time.
