I hurts to hear this. As a freshman in '75 during the tail end of our prominence as a program, I really got into the sport and followed it for many years. I don't want to see Iowa State lose this tradition.

We knew in 4 years that McD was not the answer. He took us back to the days Before Orr (BO). KJ needs at least one more year to see if that is the case.Quote:

I would agree that there are great coaches out there, that's obvious based on the success of many schools. The problem seems to be persuading them to show any interest being the head man for the Iowa State Wrestling program.
So, who are your top three realistic choices to replace KJ?
A coach from a lower tier program that wants to coach at a bigger school. I would start with Doug Schwab. The UNI AD is going to be looking to cut programs to get by. It would not surprise me if UNI didn't have a wrestling team in a few years. HE may get out early. Donny Pritzlaff really built up the UW program before he went to Michigan as an assistant. He seems ready for his own program.Quote:

And everyone bashed me last year when I said that KJ was not getting it done. I said that it is not good if we are outside of the top 3 or 4 let alone top 5. We were like 20th at the time and everyone bashed me for saying pretty much "sooo ummm 20th isn't good enough?" It's college wrestling less teams, Iowa state has been consistently in the top 5 for however long I can remember until coach Jackson got here. I do not know much about wrestling but I use to love watching it with my dad when I was younger. Now he can't even watch it anymore. We cant do any worse if we let him go and go after another coach.
If you're embarrassed to be an ISU wrestling fan -- no matter how bad the team does -- then I'm embarrassed for you.
What about Cody Sanderson. Nobody that I am aware of asked him to stay at ISU. He is a great lower weight coach and has the skills to run a great program on the business end.Quote:
