Dan Gable will return to the Iowa State Wrestling Program as an advisor of some sort. I STRESS HE WILL NOT BE HEAD COACH. but some sort of advisor or director of wrestling operations. He wants to help get our program back on its feet.
This is not confirmed with a credible soruce!!!! but i trust the individual I heard it from..... Take it for what its worth

What does an "advisor" do?
"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect".
right... why would Dan Gable come back to Iowa State after winning numerous National Titles with Iowa? makes no sense.. Yeah he is an alum...but his heart is with Iowa
Heard it many times. Gable and KJ do not get along, so only way would be without KJ. One question that was once posed, but I don't remember seeing the answer is, Does Gable donate to the CWC or to the CAA? Last I could remember the answer was no. If he was so concerned, he would probably at least be donating.
When Brands came on he was a major recruiter for IU. Dont know if this changed. He probably is trying to find a way to get Iowa back on top of Cael. He had Z fired for a 7th place finish and not winning a title in a few years. Cael looks to be in very good position for the next couple of years.
Gable cares about wrestling probably more than anyone else. He understands that Iowa State needs to be successful in order for college wrestling to be successful.
i made the suggestion a month ago that we should get gable back to iowa state as an advisor. cael left because iowa owned him and we did not pay him enough. i blame pollard for that...
Have we reached the point now that we no longer need the word "official" in thread titles, as long as there is an equal number of *s on each side of the title?
And if Gable wants to come in as an advisor and help rebuild this program, I'd be all for it. Wrestling is being cut across the country, and while Gable may be a big Hawk supporter he's an even bigger supporter of keeping wrestling alive at any school. If ISU falls too much further it would be easy for it to be first on the chopping block if a sport needs cut and it sounds like Gable wants to avoid that at all costs.
