    Earl Hall

Wrestled at Olympic trials this past weekend and orginally signed with Rutgers and has asked for his release. Was at OTC last year and friends with Destin McCauley. He is leaning toward Iowa State now and would be a 125 pounder.

Here is his interview on Flo wrestling

That would be awesome. Finch will be very undersized at 133 but it will be a major improvement at both weights.

    Re: Earl Hall

I think Finch has to stay at 125. If we get Hall, he could reshirt or compete with Finch at 125.

I still think Meeks will wrestle 133 next year, unless we get a very good transfer or see an improved Cash or Hallman. I hope we start the season with Cash and Hallman and see how they perform before burning Meeks' redshirt.

I also not sure how much money we can spend on Hall with Larson, Bauer, and Meeks coming in. Larson is suppose to be the 125 backup/future behind Finch. And we have severe needs at Heavyweight with Gibson being a Senior and Quean not coming to Iowa State. That leaves Swope and I hear Joe Scanlan might be walking on.

Maybe we can get Collin Bevins to pull double duty at ISU. We really need a heavy. With Doyle not coming, does that not open up some money?

    Re: Earl Hall

I will yield to the wrestling minds here, but what does the possibility of Hall coming in at 125 do to Finch. He had a good freshman year, but Hall just went 2-2 at the Olympic Trials. You can very well let that talent sit.

One of the biggest differences between free and folk style is the mat wrestling(lack of it in freestyle). Considering how important mat wrestling is at the lower weights, Hall could very well use a RS to get reacclimated to this.

Yes, I would think that Doyle would have freed up some money. I also assume we are trying to get answer out of Caldwell or Howe. Until they give a definite answer, none of that money will be given elsewhere.

    Re: Earl Hall

Jesse Doyle went to Olympic Training Center for 1 year and be at Iowa State next year. Basically got a $28000 scholarship to wrestle at the OTC for a year. Similiar to what Destin McCauley did this past year.

No. It isn't clear what is going to happen.

All I know is from the other board. It isn't that busy but is pretty informative when a certain someone isn't trolling it (like as of late). There is a lot of good stuff there in other threads, besides the one I link below, and worth visiting for people who want to know more.

Here is a bit from an excellent recruiting post by cywr89 (in a thread started by buf87):

    CycloneReport.com - Recruiting needs?

Finch/Bauer/Larson is plenty of depth at 125....

I don't see them signing any stars under 157 unless Hall decides to transfer for little to no $.
In a different thread, I read that Rutgers supposedly isn't going to release Hall from his commitment, so OTC for another year might he a possibility. Quite awhile back I read about the possibility of an academic scholarship. But who knows.

I think I saw buf87 posting some of the (second hand) detail over there, but it all sounds very uncertain, and other weights are a higher priority right now.
"Contrary to what many skeptics had earlier believed, the Soviet economy is proof that … a socialist command economy can function and even thrive."
    - Paul Samuelson, Economics (1989)

"Socialists invariably explain how, in the cloud-cuckoo lands of their fancy, roast pigeons will in some way fly into the mouths of the comrades, but they omit to show how this miracle is to take place."
    - Ludwig von Mises, Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth (1920)
