God forbid a fan calls out an underachieving coach on the internet!!! KJ's a big boy and Cheese is a ******. But he doesn't just go after KJ. He also spends his time directly attacking our wrestlers and recruits (and their parents) on various internet platforms. At Nationals he even was trying to pick a fight with KJ's son and Meek's Dad! No grown man needs to be doing stuff like directly tweeting a kid to make fun of his concusion. The Cheese is a worthless human being and you just give him more satisfaction and prominence when you repeat his claims.
And as far as him "having an inside track", remember how he was saying that Finch was going to transfer after nationals? Or that Sammie Henson was going to be our new assistant coach? He throws **** up on the wall and then claims victory if any of it sticks.

+1, that was a pretty typical, and sad, troll attempt. The fact that he tried to use that ***** as a reference shows how little he knows about anything...
There are many many many many on the wrestling boards at CR that would love to have cheese actually reveal his identity in public to the group. The problem, again, is that cheese is such a ***** ***** that he doesn't have the courage to be a man and say any of his nonsense to people's faces.
Now, this is a fansite, and there is a ton of smack talking done. But to do some of the low life **** that ***** has done over the past two years is way over the top.

Re: Destin McCauley
Hey I agree that picking fights and calling out recruits parents in person is shady.
The whole point about hiding behind a screen name is pretty standard tho. I would say 95% of forum posters dont want to meet other posters, myself included.
He does call out Meek's dad but if your posting on forums with an obvious screen name...
All and all you guys are pry right tho, if McCauley stayed and trained it would be a stretch. It would pretty much be saying he isnt going to college. Have any big name wrestlers done that? Man college is pretty fun. I understand its alot more work for a wrestler but I would hate to miss that experience.

Re: Destin McCauley
It depends what long term goals are after wrestling. I never hear Henry's name mentioned as a coaching candidate. I'm not sure what his (Henry's) long term financial security is. Not sure if Henry has a college education. I still think being affiliated with a college program and having folkstyle wrestling is important to stay active in wrestling long term. What if he spends the next 4 years training at OTC and doesn't make World team? Is his market ability diminished? Education is key. I hope he come to Iowa State and gets his NCAA Championship and his Olympic medal.

It seems as though going to college for our past Olympic Gold Medalist's has worked out for them. Bruce Baumgartner, John Smith, Kevin Jackson, Tom Brands, Brandon Slay, Cael Sanderson just to name a few....Kenny Monday waited to get his degree and now is in the club coaching position reportedly "going to school to finish his degree". Henry is the only one exception to the rule and I remember after high school it was said there was no way he'd be able to wrestle D1 without going to Jr College first because of his acedemic performance in high school. Also what if a career ending injury occurs....then what? I've met DM's parents and it doesn't seem as thought they'd be advocating for him to stay at the OTC. I also know KJ's family and they've been tight lipped about this situation. Just wondering if USA wrestling is supporting kids not going to college or what, can't imagine that any NCAA coach would be excited about wanting a kid to go to the OTC for a year before college, if that year turns out to be indefinately.

Re: Destin McCauley
here is what i think.
first off some people like to stir the pot, that is just the way that they are and i believe that they get there kicks by doing that (they are demented at best) as for SLAY, he wantes to stack his program just like any and all D-1 coaches, he is putting on the sale job and he wants the guys at the OTC to move from the jr level to the sr level, he does not care if the kid gets a degree or not his goal is to help the kid ge to the gold.
sending any wrestler to the OTC is a tricky ordeal, you had better be on top of your kid or they can be up for grabs and that is for any kid that is there. so what i am saying is the cheese wants people to be all stirred up when this has been a ongoing situation way back in Feb. Willie Mikulus had not been at the training center 1 week and atleast two Big 10 coaches were already licking there chops on how thery were going to lure him.
last but not least i was told by someone living at the OTC that Slay has been encouraged by a former Hawkeye to go after DM, so it aint all Slay

But now, 4 years later, his wrestling career is completely over (even though most international wrestlers come into their prime in their late 20s) and he has no degree to fall back on. There are a very small handful of dedicated Freestyle coaching jobs available, but that is the only thing he would be qualified for. And even if he does decide to now go to college, it'll probably be on his own dime rather than the free ride he would have gotten at 18.
There is really nothing to gain for McCauley by staying one more year at the OTC, since the Olympic Cycle just started. So if he decides to stay another year he is essentially saying he never plans to compete in college wrestling. In my opinion Slay even trying to keep him on at the OTC shows he is more concerned about short term medal count than long term life success of the athletes. If he does stay, I wish him the best of luck, and I hope he doesn't turn into another Cejudo.

Re: Destin McCauley
Just as I thought, thank you to Mr Slay on twitter, he was able to share with me what his thoughts are on education and a degree as well as share his contact info for Mr Meeks to use when he is assuming and throwing stones at a guy like Slay. Lesson be learn don't hide on a message board if you want to know something or call out someone go to the horse. Reason I have been successful is bc I refuse to make excuses, that's all cyclones and ISU wrestling has these days and that's why we are where we are at.
If you except having produced 1 all American in two years and finishing a historic worse than you need to think about what the tradition and program was before KJ arrived.

Re: Destin McCauley
Also any one without a bachelor degree at the OTC must start or continue to work towards their education to maintain residency and be able to train. Maybe you should have done your research before spewing the OTC doesn't care about the athlete and education.
As for DM, I support whatever the young man decides. If he decides to train freestyle year round best of luck, if he wants to be a cyclone-awesome! If he doesn't end up coming I am sure it will be CS fault! Hahahahahahehehehehhahahahahaha
GO CLONES! GO CLONES! GO CLONES!

Re: Destin McCauley
I know who cheese is. Unfortunately, he's an ex ISU wrestler from about 8 years ago. Coached as an assistant in the des moines area. Extremely solid info from coaches and media throughout des moines. He's a huge goober...don't worry about what he posts/tweets.

Was he successful as a wrestler at ISU?
