Mizzou still needs home: Missouri’s decision to leave the Big 12 for the SEC left the Tigers without a conference wrestling affiliation. The Tigers are still trying to determine where they’ll land for the coming season, and Jarneecke said the NCAA has asked for a response in September.
“We haven’t had these specific conversations, but if they were able to get back with the Big 12, that’s a reasonable solution for us,” Jarnecke said. “If they had an affiliate membership with another conference, that’s a reasonable solution for us. And I suppose at day’s end, if those two options or any other options didn’t come to fruition, they would wrestle through the West Regional next year.”

They will quietly drop the sport in 3-4 years is my guess. Once they are fully indoctrinated by the "SEC!" they won't see a need to keep it.

I figured they'd just take WV's place in the EWL and be a bit of a geographic outlier, maybe they're not interested.

What other options are there for them? I'm not as up on things as I used to be but would the MAC be the best fit outside the Big 12 and Big Ten? Isn't there a D1 southern conference but it's not on the same level of competition as the EWL and MAC?

If the Big 12 has 4 happy quality programs like we do, I say FU to Mizzou. Worked out that WVU is a wrestling school.

If we're not happy with 4 teams for some reason lets add NIU and Wyoming for wrestling only before letting Missouri back in. Otherwise, stick with the 4 we have unless a Kansas or Texas school adds a program.

The Big 12 should (and probably will) tell Missouri to go pound sand.

Missouri's best option for competition level is in the WWC with UNI, NDSU, SDSU, Wyoming, Air Force, Northern Colorado and Utah Valley.

The SoCon has wrestling, with App State, Campbell, Citadel, Chattanooga, Davidson, Gardner-Webb, SIU-Edwardsville and VMI.
