Sets up a couple decent match-ups in the lower weights. Should be a nice early test for the first home meet.
Does anyone know if they will be putting Varner's Olympic Gold banner up on the 25th?

Re: 11/13 Rankings
I like how we match up against Old Dominion - they have a few "good" but not "great" guys that will allow us to get a handle on whether Finch/Goettl have grown and if we are going to have a decent 157 pounder this year. I'm a little surprised not to see Meeks's name listed anywhere at 133 but I suppose they are waiting to find out for sure about his redshirt.

Basically the same, Meeks is in and Goettl is out per TOM. No Gadson, probably because he hasn't wrestled yet. No team rankings.

45. West Virginia (2.5) Colon is supposed to be dropping down to 125 after Midlands. I don't see that as working ou very well and will definitely hurt their team points.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
I'm similarly not worried about the UNI dual - they have two or three guys who are expected to go deep in March but a much less consistent lineup, closer to us last year or the year before. We have a much better dual team this year than we'll have had since 2009.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
Judoka, can you give a run down on what you think UNI lineup will be and how we will fare?
IMO it could come down to bonus points.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
I'll do that when we get to that meet. I won't bother to make match by match predictions this early in the season when parts of both teams have no matches and there are few if any quality common opponents. We don't wrestle UNI until senior night in February.
We won't really get a handle on this team until Midlands. Between now and then we should beat Old Dominion and North Dakota State, and we're going to lose very badly to Iowa. They'll be a few good individual matchups but no chances to really see if we've improved or not.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
Colon at 125, Wolfensberger at 133, and Reiter (probably) at 141 for UNI. Lots of unproven freshman for UNI to make an opinion on the dual, like Judoka said.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
Any word on the impression Nickerson has made on our lighter weights thus far? I'm kind of disappointed on how Finch and Goettl performed over the weekend..
-
Re: 11/13 Rankings
Both of them only lost one match and in those matches they did not perform well but the bright side is that they rebounded well and performed well in the rest of there matches. Not sure what you are so disappointed about

Yeah, I wasn't very thrilled with that either. Luckily Old Dominion has guys ranked in the mid teens at both 125 and 141, so we'll get an idea on Nov 25th whether those losses were flukes or signs of where the season is headed. If Finch and Goettl have made the improvements we expect then both those matches should be wins. I don't expect domination, but I don't want either match to ever be in doubt.

Re: 11/13 Rankings
Which of the two matches or wrestlers disappoint you the most

Not sure what you are so disappointed about Didn't say "so" disappointed I said kind of..and i figured those are two of our better talents so its frustrating. Who hasn't been disappointed in the last couple seasons??? As cyclones we expect to be ranked in the top ten much less #31. I have high expectations of our wrestling program as do most cyclone fans.
