    Lineup for Iowa

the hawkeye release has some interesting ORs at 125 and 133:

    Larson at 125
    Hallman at 133

So is Finch gone? And what about Meeks? Seriously, Meeks is way better than Hallman, and unless they can put a RS on him now, there is no reason to not wrestle Meeks.

    This just seems silly.

Edit: Looked at the PDFs and it says OR. Finch and Meeks will wrestle.

Maybe we are going easy on them.

Looks like someone at Iowa messed up with this... it says McDonough went to Marion HS. He went to Linn-Mar.

    Re: Lineup for Iowa

I wonder if we'll put Goettl at 149 to get a better matchup if Mayfield is still out. Ballweg would be a better test for him but teamwise it would be better to take advantage of one of Iowa's weaker weights.

    Re: Lineup for Iowa

    • The Hawkeyes have won eight in a row in the series and own an all-time series record of 60-16-2.

We've only beaten them 16 times ?#??!@ I know they've had dominant run since Gable, but I would have thought before the late 70's that we owned them.

Also; 10 BIG teams ranked in top 25?? Does Indiana have a wrestling program?

Holy crap; it's sad how far the B12 / B8 has fallen.

I would rather keep Luke Goettl at 41. I want to see how he does with Ballweg.

    Re: Lineup for Iowa

My guess is to give options at 149. If Max isn't back and Matt White injured, I assume it would be Luke Swalla.

I agree about Ballweg. But looking at the lineup we will be favored only at 197 (assuming they don't pull their stud freshman's redshirt), with Iowa slightly favored at 141 and 184 and Gibson having a decent chance at Heavyweight. Putting Goettl at 149 would give up 141 but make us favored at 149. We aren't going to win this dual but that move would have a shot at making it a little less painful.

Individual-wise it would be better for Goettl to wrestle 141, but teamwise it might be better for him to bump up to 149 for this meet due to matchups. Stick Shayden at 141 or even put Shayden at 133 with Meeks at 141 and Goettl at 149. That would give us a legit shot at winning both 141 and 149. Though given our team's luck the past few years such a move would somehow hilariously backfire.

Also I'll be overseas with no internet access from Friday until late next week, so I won't be able to do my normal preview and results posting.

    Re: Lineup for Iowa

Iowa did pull the redshirt on Burak, but I still favor Gadsen.

I would not mess with bumping guys up. 1) I am not convinced LG would beat Kelly or Grothus. 2) Aren't we redshirting Shayden? 3) I would like to see how JM does against Ramos.

If bumping guys up would give us a chance to win, then I would be all for it. Since any shifting will not deliver a win, I would let the guys wrestle where they will be at the rest of the year.

Have fun on your trip Judoka, hopefully you have some good improvement to read about when you get back!

    Re: Lineup for Iowa

I would think the only way Shayden would wrestle and pull his redshirt would be if Goettl was going to 149. Else I don't see Shayden wrestling

I think Moreno will have a great shot at 165 as well. Plus, I am not counting out England or Beard. If the team comes to wrestle we could win 3-4. But I am putting the over under at 2 matches.

Tanner Weatherman is wrestling at 174, I heard. Mikey is a little bit dinged up.

I don't think there is that much seperation. By all accounts, Weatherman has often been the better of the two.
