Do they have to name the 10 scorers before brackets are posted? Or just before wrestling starts? I believe the coaches have to name their 10 before the seedings are finalized. The tournament committee never officially reveals who the 10 are for each team (which is a little silly), but if you know how the scoring works you can usually have it figured out by the end of Session I.

Are only the starters allowed to wrestle in the midland tourney?

Teams can send as many wrestlers as they want and name 10 wrestlers to count for scoring regardless of weight. For example with our team this year we will probably have at least one of our lower weight starters not count for scoring in order to have two wrestlers scoring at 174 and/or 197.

Depending on the year, ISU has had anywhere from 12-19 guys compete -- 10 scorers, a few non-scorers, and a few unattached/redshirts.

We are taking 15 to Midlands. That is from KJ. But not saying publicly who yet.

10 starters, 2nd at 174, 2nd at 197, Gabe Moreno - that makes 13. Terikuna and Hallman maybe for the other two?

Lelund Weatherspoon or 157 pounders (Trent W or Aaron Sorenson)?

From what I've read Trent W may have re-injured himself and has only been doing some light training to stay in shape. I'm betting he won't be going to Midlands and may not wrestle again, i could be totally wrong as I don't know him or have any real ins.

Unattached/redshirts can't be part of the "official" travel party -- they'd have to arrange their own transportation, etc. So the question is if "we're bringing 15" means the travel party is 15, or if there will be 15 total guys competing.

On that basis... England/Weatherman, Reader, Nickerson, and both Paulsens.
I do wish more postgrads competed in Midlands nowadays. There are lots of young assistant coaches that are in shape are wrestling a lot of folkstyle.

Looking back through the old brackets, there were years where 7-8 winners were unattached or postgrad. The Sunkist, NYAC and Hawkeye WC "teams" routinely finished in the top 5.

I would bet for sure that Gabe is going. Also was posted that Luke Swalla is going at 149.
