The Flo guys are very Big 10/East Coast centric. That's the areas they primarily cover and they seem to rank guys they have seen wrestle in person higher.

I would tend to agree. I think that if you haven't watched Iowa State recently, you don't know how much tougher this team is mentally and physically than they were in the early part of the season.

That is why, I don't think a lot of guys are going to be happy matching up with Iowa State guys. They are going to get a battle!

So do you guys think we qualify more than 4 for nationals? Or are we really going to have to pull some big upsets to get that done?

Assuming that Goettl is a pre-qualifier (Since the coaches had him wrestle 1 match and then default out last weekend I assume they think he is) we should have five pre-qualifiers. Goettl, Moreno, Weatherman, Beard, and Gadson. Of those 5, I think all of them but Goettl would be sitting pretty good for an at-large spot if they got upset.

Of the other five guys, Finch, Mayfield, and Molina all have a realistic shot at getting an upset and stealing a spot.

Gibson doesn't have a realistic shot at an upset. But if there aren't any upsets at HWT in the conference tournaments he has a legitimate shot at getting an at-large spot if he takes second at Big XIIs.

So for now I'll stick with 5-7 being my guess. That might change up or down once allocations are announced.

Thanks for the summary. It does make sense that Goettl is a pre-qualifier most likely with him sitting after getting what he needed on Sunday.

Would be great if we ended up with 7, and I'd really like to see what Finch would do at nationals if he does qualify.

7 would be good I think, and any more than that would be great.

It would be great if some of our guys could pull the upsets at the Big 12 tourney.

I think you're being overly optimistic based on results so far and what allocations the conference will have. I think that we certainly have 8-9 guys with realistic chances to qualify. But we would need a lot to go our way to get 7 or more guys to Des Moines.

Take Molina and Mayfield for example. Both need to turn 4-6 losses into wins. Is that possible? Very. Is it realistic to hope that at least one of them does? Yes. Is it realistic to think that they both will? Not really.

I am feeling optimistic. If our guys can avoid the 4th seed, which at this point, none will have and go into the tourney as 3rd seed or higher, we have the ability to pull upsets.
at 125 - All are pretty close and Ryak need to avoid Kilmara 1st round
133 - John will have a better chance with Brewer (2nd seed) than Morrison(1st seed)
141 - I think Luke is in
149 - Max will have a better shot with Lester (2nd seed) than Oliver (1st seed)
157 - Logan will have a better shot at Lester (2nd seed) than Dieringer (1st seed)
165 - Michael is in
174 - Tanner is in
184 - Boaz is in
197 - Kyven is in
Hwt - Matt should have the 2 seed and puts in spot to get at large bid

The Big XII might get zero or one allocation at 125.

125 is a wild card, all 3 are fringe guys. I think we get 1 and could get 3.

I think Garcia is out, but Young, Kilmara and Finch could all earn 1 or none might.
