Those are 2 beatdowns. How bad do you feel if you make it to State just to get tech-falled or pinned in 1:02 in the first round?

No kidding. Here's to hoping he can tighten things up a bit in the quarter finals.

I see Ferentz won again as well. Has Eric wrestled him before?

Dillon Heesch SE WEB-G, Kyle Kober W BRANCH, James Ferentz IACTY and
Eric Thompson WAVER-SR among other top Hwt were all at a dual tornament at Independence that the format was changed to round robin Invitational for the Hwt division because of a lack of teams caused by bad weather conditions that day. Thompson won the tournament and beat Ferentz by a comfortable margin of about 8 or so. I can not find the results. All the guys mentioned above are probabaly in the top 10 or so of all Hwt in the state regardless of class, Thompson easily handled them all. Thompson is in a class by himself.

Re: Update on ISU Wrestling Recruits - State Tourney

Semi final scores now posted for Class 2A. Update on ISU recruit Andrew Long.

Andrew Long (SR), Creston Orient-Macksburg T-Fall Derrick Miner (JR), Spirit Lake Park, 23-5/6:00

Long moves into the finals to face Tanner Weatherman - a freshman from Ballard Huxley. Long is a scoring machine! So far, that's two technical falls and a pin in the tourney for Andrew.

I noticed Ballard Huxley has two freshman in the finals. Anyone seen them wrestle before? Just wondering if they have the potential to be future ISU recruits?

Thanks, great info! I've seen some clips of Thompson, he looks very impressive.

Eric Thompson won his semifinal match 7-2. He'll face James Ferentz of Iowa City in the Finals tomorrow night. Ferentz won his semifinal 3-1 in OT.

I am pretty sure that Ridge Kiley from Eagle Grove is going to wrestle for ISU also.

Long looks like he can do big things at ISU.

Agreed. This was the first time I've seen him wrestle. He looked to be a very technically sound wrestler.
