Is that good or bad for us? I have no clue.

I really like Jon Reader's draw.
Possible matchup with Marable from Mizzou in the quarters (1 point match in dual) and then a shot at a out of shape Perry from Iowa in the semis.
Last year, Varner lost to Kish in the season, Cael did an excellent job of coaching Varner to beat Kish in the semis by wrestling a different style.
I am sure Cael is going to have Reader ready for the rematch. Perry has gone backwards since the injury, and looked out of shape at Big 10s. Reader is peaking at the right time.
Gallick has his shot at a rematch as well against LeClere from Iowa. I am sure he has been watching a lot of tape and preparing for LeClere. Same story here too, Gallick is streaking and is very hot right now, while LeClere has been mediocre down the stretch.

This season has been so up & down compared to last year. A strong finish at nationals would really top things off.

Possible rematch of Slaton (Iowa) vs. Fanthorpe in the quarterfinals. Same story here, Fanthorpe will be ready for Slaton this time. Fanthorpe will control all three positions and win this rematch.
Possible semifinal of Fanthorpe and #1 Gomez. Fanthorpe beat Gomez last year at Midlands and lost to him this year at Midlands. Fanthorpe will need to figure out Gomez for the upset. Gomez is very tough on his feet and is very slick. This will be a great match.

ISU2007, are you or were you on the team? With how closely you follow NCAA wrestling I figure that you're either a nut like me or you're involved with it.

Friends with several of the wrestlers on the current and past teams. Definitely a wrestling nut. Trying to kill the boredom until I leave for St. Louis Thursday...

I've got a question for you ISU2007. How does the tourney work? I've never been to one and I've got tickets to all 6 sessions. I can't realistically make it to every one, and when I was looking at the bracket, I couldn't tell when I needed to be there to see our guys wrestle. Any insight would be helpful.
BTW, I just got my tickets and apparently they're in the OK State section. It's going to be kinda odd when I'm wearing my ISU gear there. :P

BTW, I just got my tickets and apparently they're in the OK State section. It's going to be kinda odd when I'm wearing my ISU gear there. :P Session 1: Thursday 11:00 AM
Preliminary round (13 Bouts) and 1st Round Championship (157 Bouts)
Pretty good wrestling. You will see 10 Iowa State matches in this session. Session 2: Thursday 6:30 PM
1st Round Consolations (13 Bouts) 2nd Round Championship (80 Bouts) and 2nd Round Consolations (77 Bouts)
Probably an easier session to get to if you have work conflicts. This round is where some of the seeded wrestlers start to meet up (#5-#12, #6-#11, #7-#10, #8-#9). Possible Iowa State-Iowa matchup here (#9 Gallick vs #8 LeClere) Session 3: Friday 10:00 AM
3rd Round Consolation (80 Bouts), Championship Quarterfinals (40 Bouts), 4th Round Consolation (40 Bouts)
Quarterfinals are always a great round to watch. Win and you are an AA, lose and you have to prepare for a tough wrestleback Friday night. Possible Iowa State-Iowa match here too (#5 Fanthorpe vs #4 Slaton) I recommend this round if you can make it. Session 4: Friday 6:00 PM
4th Round Consolation (40 Bouts), Championship Semifinals (20 Bouts), and Consolation Quarterfinals (20 Bouts)
The "Round of 12" or 4th round consolations is where a win gets you a AA finish. Championship semifinals is a very competitive round as well. A lot of highly anticipated matches. Consolation Quarterfinals decide if you go for 7th-8th or for 3rd-6th. Iowa State should still have 7-10 wrestlers going in this round (hopefully more on the championship side of the bracket ). Session 5: Saturday 10:00 AM
Consolation Semifinals (20 Bouts) and Placement Round (30 Bouts)
Good session to catch if you can. Session 6: Saturday 7:30 PM
Championship Finals (10 Bouts)
Got to go to this round. 2008 NCAA Wrestling Championships
Hope to see you there

Holy crap, OK, thanks for the break-down. How many bouts will they have going at the same time? Like, are there multiple mats or is it all done on one mat? Sorry if these are ridiculously noobish questions, I'm just trying to get a feel for how it all works.

For the most part, they will be wrestling on 8 mats. Consolation Finals - Placement round might have 3 - 6 mats going at once. Finals are on one mat.

I'm not a huge wrestling fan but I have gotten a bit swept up in Cael and the team over the last 2 years. Kinda looking forward to it more than the BB tourney at this point.
