Credits: 473,276 | ISU Wrestling talk today on KXNO 1460 KXNO ( Des Moines' Sports Station - 1460 KXNO) at 2:25 with Mike Finn of W.I.N. Magazine...looking at each weight from an Iowa and Iowa State perspective...also some talk about the Hodge Award, of which WIN is a big part of....
This should be about a 24 minute segment...so a ton of talk...weight by weight.
I think this is year one of a three year battle between these two schools for supremacy in the sport... |

but Slaton, Leclere and Borschell have been real inconsistent the last month and a half. Slaton could win a national title, or struggle to be an AA. Leclere has the the talent to be an AA, but he has been gripping. Borschell could get 2nd (Gavin whipped him at Midlands) or lower AA....Fields is coming on, but he has never been consistent.
It's just been an inconsistent team the last month...then again, they haven't 'lost' anything team related since January 5th, so perhaps I am just looking for dominance.
The thing Iowa has is multiple bonus point threats. ISU had that last year and that's one of the reasons why you fared so well. ISU has not shown that explosiveness this year along those lines.
Michigan has just 6 guys in, but they could compete for the title as 5 of their guys could reach the semis. |

I think they should be able to get top 3. They can be anywhere from 1-5. I think the top 5 teams are head and shoulders above the rest. (ISU, Iowa, OSU, Minnesota, Michigan) Like Jon mentioned Michigan should be getting lots of points from most of their guys. Minnesota will depend on if the 2 injured guys can wrestle and wrestle well.
It is nice to see several teams with a legitimate chance to win, unlike past years. |
