Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
What does this mean? Iowa wrestlers takin on the rest of the country? That seems odd. If Team Iowa Smokes Team USA then Could Team Iowa just be called "Team USA"
All I keep thinking about is Team America. Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
This dual goes between the states every year. Has been going on since 1997. This is the 12th Annual and the 5th time Team Iowa has faced Team USA (2008, 2003, 2001, 1998, and 1997)
Here is the website with past results, teams, bios... WRESTLING USA Magazine / Cliff Keen Dream Team Classic Dual Meet -
Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
Thanks! Wrestling is very confusing to me.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
I see 103 Kris Thompson is highlighted in red, so I assume he is attending ISU? That is a new name to me.

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
ISU2007, by chance did you attend this meet? I heard Tanner Kampen is going to ICCC. Any chance he could become a Clone down the line?

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
I was out of town working, so I didn't make it to the meet. I suppose if we keep the Iowa Central pipeline warm, we could have the inside track on some more middle weight recruits. Still kind of disappointed we lost a JUCO National Champ from Iowa Central, but I will get over it when Reader or Carr Jr. beats Covington in the dual...

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
I went to this meet in 1997 (Cael was on the USA team that year). It was at Waterloo West High. It's a pretty neat event.

All I keep thinking about is Team America. team iowa didn't smoke team usa or even win the match. If i calculated it right Team USA beat Team Iowa 32-20, but that is a good effort for the Iowa wrestlers.
A pin is 6 points, tech fall is 5 points, major decision is 4 and a decision is 3 points.
Your pin is obvious what it is, tech fall is winning by 15, major decisino is winning by 8 i believe and a decision is just winning.

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
I just totaled up the team points and it was even worse than what you said. I calculated USA beat Iowa 39-15.

I was just stating that it would have been wierd if Team Iowa beat Team USA. Then Team Iowa could really be called Team USA because they would have been better. Just for fun...
At least it was close...Could you imagine the McDonalds All American Team coming in and playing Team Iowa in Basketball? Now that would be a problem.

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
The "state" team varies from year to year, but the state teams have never defeated the USA team. The USA team draws the best from around the country, the states from within their own state, obviously.
I'm pretty sure Ohio, Pennsylvania, California, other big wrestling states have hosted this before as well.

I know there is a town in iowa called delware and figured he was from there not even thinking of the state. This does bring good competition, but I would like to see Team Iowa collegeiately vs. the USA, we would def. win then with Iowa winning the Nat'l title and ISU only coming 6 points away from 2nd. We had a combined 5 people in the Championship matches

Re: Team Iowa vs. Team USA
Does anyone know where the two Iowa City West wrestlers (Moore and Gambrall) are attending college (hopefully not EIU)? It looks like both of them had impressive victories in this dual.
